The Beheadings In Cleveland have Begun

He would have had them at .500 this year. The talent on defense is actually decent and some pieces on offense are not bad either.
Agree.

Parcells said going from 1-15 to 9-7 is 1000 times easier than going from 12-4 to a Super Bowl.

There is just no way you can only have 1 win in (almost) 32 games. Even the talent devoid roster of the Colts has won multiple games this year with a medicore QB like JB. As much as Hue seems to be a nice dude he just needs to go because he is the embodyment of the losing is acceptable nature that has its headquarter right now in Cleveland.

Yeah you're probably right. The GM can or has as much to do with the culture as the HC. If Hue was undermined by personnel decisions, which seems to be the case, isn't it possible he was undermined in other aspects?

I once was assigned to a unit in Germany that was overly lax. Hands in your pocket type of thing. Squad leaders, Platoon Sgts etc all were tasked to get jobs done with little support from our Beer guzzling First Sgt (GM). In comes First Sgt Thomas and over f'ing night things changed. Suddenly the chain of command worked and became incredibly fair and efficient.

So imo a f'd up FO can ruin the entire culture. Not sure if we can judge Hue accurately in that environment.

I can't help but think that the thread titled "Why Josh McDaniels Should Stay with the Patriots to Succeed Bill Bellichick" should be copied and pasted here.

And PS - as angry as I have been with Bob Kraft for not doing something about Deflategate and/or Roger Goodell (other than kiss him), it's not lost on me that he is still a good owner, comparatively speaking. You've got to feel bad for Cleveland's fans.

Not a chance in hell

I dont know.. a win was certainly possible against:

Colts, Jets, Titans, Packers (w/o AR), Bears..

also not out of question against:

Lions and Jaguars

and then if they can win one game against the AFCN they are already at 8-8..

Maybe I worded it too strongly but no chance in hell seems similarly strong..

No quarterback = no chance in hell

Just to follow this up, it would be cool to have been able to look at a parallel world where BB was coaching there, started off the (exhibition) season with that roster, but had the power to make deals to change it. Hell, I'm sure Jackson wishes he was living in a parallel world where he had the power to do that.

Lots of talent on that roster with tons picks and $.

I was about to reply to you with a scenario like that but that didnt seem fair. That being said I am sure the drafts and FA approach for a team with so much cap space and picks under BB would have been fascinating to watch.

Pretty clearly, going from coordinator to HC isn't simply a matter of moving up one rung on the chain of command.

Took them long enough.

What makes Kraft a good owner is that he stays out of the way of the guys who really know wtf they're doing. Most owners seem to have the attitude, "Well, I'm the owner, therefore I must know more about pretty much everything than the people who work for me."

He was more like this, early on, and then the Parcells defection/debacle cured him.
