Clearly they didn't want him.Patriots could not give a 6th round pick for Bridgewater?

I agree. I suspect that our backup (Bridgewater's role will go to Jimmy or Cam.Clearly they didn't want him.

They picked up a fully guaranteed $18 million option. Think again.
Doubtful, Darnit is the only 'name' QB currently on their roster after trading Teddy, and it seems really dicey to go into a season with no one but a rookie QB and scrubs on your QB depth chart:So, it is possible that they could take a QB and trade Darnold to us or someone else...maybe Darnold was just their "fall back plan".
No QB in this draft is worth moving up for including Lawrence.Chris, I think we can forget about trading up to 4, we'd have to give up too much and from all accounts, Atlanta is now more inclined to make that selection(most likely Pitts)
the Manning’s are QB royalty thanks to Archie. Second generation stars Have some nice coattails to ride....Funny how all the best QBs were never built up to be world beaters. Not Brady, Mahomes, Wilson, Brees, Rodgers. Ben was somewhat obscure compared to Eli Manning. Peyton Manning lived up to his billing.
thisI don't see how this trade makes it more likely that a good QB falls to us at #15.
We don't know who Bill likes better nor do we know who other teams like the most...maybe Denver likes Fields better than Lance....there are so many different opinions about each of the top 5 qb other than Trevor....that's what makes this draft fascinating.There is a good chance that Justin Fields drops into BillB's 15th pick.
MacJones == Niners
TreyLance == Broncos
That would taking having the league forbid any other teams from trading up to get Fields. There are lots of teams who would like Fields, and lots of trade partners that pick before 15.There is a good chance that Justin Fields drops into BillB's 15th pick.

Keep in mind the year before they took a huge cap hit for cutting Cam too.
He's not a permanent commitment, no. But he was a sizable investment. They sent 3 draft picks including a 2nd to acquire Darnold. Someone at their organization likes him. So I'm seeing them giving him every chance to succeed. I don't feel like Carolina is in for a QB this year, they will want to see what they have in Darnold first.Darnold need not be a permanent commitment. He will start for a year.
Yup, it's the Sam Darnold show in Carolina for now!Report: Teddy Bridgewater's contract restructured to facilitate trade - ProFootballTalk
Carolina must have really wanted him gone.
I'd give a 2nd for a reasonable 2 year starter, and transition QB. I'd rather than Darnold than Cam and the 2nd.He's not a permanent commitment, no. But he was a sizable investment. Agreed, that would require so much draft capital after they already spent picks on Darnold, seems sillyI don't see Carolina trading up to 4 for a qb...if one of the top 5 falls to them that they really like, they might possibly take him, but I think they are vested in Darnold for the moment.
They still combined for 4 Superbowl championships. You might not like the Mannings but they produced results.the Manning’s are QB royalty thanks to Archie. Second generation stars Have some nice coattails to ride.
Well, next year's second, so it's not the same value as this year's second.He's not a permanent commitment, no. But he was a sizable investment.
