Pete Brock was not a miss. He played for 12 years, is part of the 1980's All Decade Team and is currently the president of the Pats Alumni Association.
He was a "miss" with the respect he was the 12th overall pick in the draft. He certainly was not a bust but a solid pro.

For the people saying Mayos still learning. How many more years should the team waste so he can learn how to coach? The team wasted one already.
Mayo is probably very intelligent, he just doesn't seem to have common sense. Not taking the wind in OT was a mistake that rookie High School coaches don't make.

I think what's gotten lost about this team this season is it wasn't never really supposed to win anything. We all knew everything was new going in. Coaching, player's ect. If the organization decides to make a change at HC then it needs to be done right away and that new coach needs assurances that he can have at least 3 seasons. If not then we will be the pre- Josh Allen bills. I'm looking forward to the off season. I just feel like the pressure is on the krafts to improve this roster vastly. Out if 53 guys I can probably think of 8-10 who could start on another team.

Additional years are dependent on improvement.

Mayo is going to be back. Kraft will look like a fool firing Mayo now after the way he built him up as the next great Pats HC.

You are a tough grader, LOL.
That's fair. In theory your top 15 picks in the draft are pro bowlers and all pros.

Pete had a solid, above average career but never reached that level.

Tough to be an all-pro/pro-bowler in the same conference as Dwight Stephenson and Mike Webster.

Meh. He started 1/2 the games he was on the roster for.

Honestly, I doubt Tavai gives a ****. he is going to get paid regardless of fan interest and in a couple of years he will move on and not look back.

It's Kraft who should care when one of his players disparages the fan base so blatantly.
And so far the silence from The Scatback and The Nebbish has been deafening

Kraft’s problem is that he will look like a fool either way. So he should choose the option where he looks like a fool and then goes on to win football games, as opposed to looking like a fool and continuing to lose games/the fan base and staying irrelevant. Then looking bad yet again when he eventually fires Mayo.

Yup, it's that old adage: fool yourself once, shame on me; fool yourself twice, shame on the franchise, fanbase and me.

I wouldn't say Brock was a miss, he did play here for over a decade.
I’d say a first round pick who didn’t start until his 6th year is definitely a miss. If he was a late round pick just being around makes it a hit but a first should start soon.

First round picks shouldn’t take 6 years to become starters.
Being better than Mike Baab in the 80 s decade doesn’t make you a successful first round pick.
Being in the alumni association has nothing to do with his well you played.

Sure checking around a long time, eventually made it on to the field and us evidently a great guy, but first round picks who don’t start until their 6th year are not hits. .

True, Brock was not a franchise altering pick one way or the other. That said, labeling a player who ultimately made the All Decade team for his era and earned multiple awards for leadership a miss seems harsh. Clearly, he was not a miss based on the Dominique Easley scale. Maybe I am conflating being considered a miss with being a bust.

I purposely said miss rather than bust, which I said for Ike forte.
What I’m saying is when you draft a guy in the first round and the result is it takes him 6 years to start, that wasn’t a good pick. I don’t put much weight in making an all decade team. You make it by being the guy who played the most not necessarily playing well.

Fair enough. Acknowledging your position on Brock being a miss, your point on the all decade team strikes me as an indictment of the team in that era Let's hope the 2020 All Decade team has a better center.

Sitting here trying to think of a Boston athlete I dislike as much as Tavai, and all I can come up with is Kyrie.

All in all. Tavai since he's been here has walked the walk and talked the talk.. yeah he made comments I'm sure he regrets. He's a team leader and he'll learn from it. Kyrie was just a weirdo and conspiracy therorist.
