Squealers in deep trouble (could miss playoffs)

I don’t think it was a challengable play, was it? Ultimately, the flag was thrown for DPI, and we know that’s not something that can be challenged.
Today Andy Reid challenged a DPI on the basis that it was tipped before the DPI happened. He lost the challenge, but the TV guys said that Reid shouldn't have been able to make the challenge at all since DPI isn't challengeable. So *shrug*?

No, if Pitt loses or Balt wins next week, Squealers are OUT. Period. Balt won't lose to Cleve at home but game might be close.

Agree, Cleveland has to beat Baltimore and Pitt has to win.

If the pass was tipped - THAT can be challenged on DPI, but not on a hold. The call was DPI though - so a tip was material.

OK, it can be challenged and reviewed. But it was under 2 minutes so a challenge was out. Riveron looked at it and did not feel it was tipped. Video really was not conclusive. Steelers however could not challenge due to when it occurred.

If Pitt is out. None of the teams who beat us are going to the playoffs.
1.detroit
2. Miami
3. Jax
4. Pitt
5.ten

It’s been a strange season
but TEN could go in the play-offs if they beat IND

Various penalties related to objective things can be challenged:
You can try to get a DPI picked up by challenging that the ball was tipped.

You can try to get a too-many-men picked up by challenging how many people were on the field.

I’m pretty sure you can get a illegal-touch-because-first-to-touch-after-going-OOB picked up by challenging that the player didn’t actually go OOB.

You can try to get some illegal fwd passes picked up by challenging that the passer didn’t actually go over the LOS.

The common thread is that those penalties depend on an objective event having happened.

I thought the ball changed course and dipped a bit. They were yelling about it immediately - usually someone knows if they touched the ball. They said they did not have a quick replay - but if they were pretty certain - they should have challenged it. Winning the challenge would have essentially ended the game.

Yea it came out weird but hard to tell if it was tipped or just poor delivery. They definitely should have challenged if they thought they had a legit gripe, but with most things steelers related, its probably not legit. At least theres no actual evidence ive seen

.

Correct, dpi is challengable in a tipped ball situation. Editing my post as under 2 minutes you cant challenge, but it is reviewable.

This is why they are the Squealers.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving fan base

just saw a zoomed in gif of that 4th and 2 call, it would be very hard to say that pass was tipped, but it was close. Wish I knew how to save/ posts gifs or I would, instead ill just post this:

Am I the only one that would rather play the Steelers over the ravens? As it stands now we would play the Texans or ravens.

I think we would beat the Steelers no problem but Bmore D would give us a lot of problems.
I don't think we beat any playoff team " no problem", but I agree Pitt would be preferable to the Ravens. I think Jackson would run our D ragged. And the Ravens D right now might kill Brady.

They've gone from talent starving jokes to a team that is borderline stacked w a borderline top 10 QB (in his rookie year).

They don't need draft position. They want wins & are establishing a culture now that Hue is gone.

No reason to think they can't compete for the div/playoffs next year.

I agree.

Ive been watching them from afar.

NEEDS -

1 - WR help. Landry is a stud and Calloway coming along for a rookie.

2 - RB - A versatile all purpose RB to compliment Chubb and as a replacement for Duke Johnson if he leaves. Dorsey might move on and bring his own guy in. If I were the Pats I would sign Duke asap if he is on the market. Dion Lewis clone.

3 - TE - I expected more from David Njoku this season. 2019 is year 3 for him and the Browns offense would rock with a Kelce type TE.

4 - DL - Looks like DL help too since the Browns are terrible vs the run which is puzzling.

Where I get murky is the whole concept of cleaveland actually winning something.

Steelers are toast

Forgot to mention theres a thread about how the 4th and 2 pi was tipped and shouldnt be pi. Several folks insisting it was tipped. Evidence to back up there claim? Any videos/ pics of the actual play?? Nope, just referencing the steelers players/coaches yelling on the sideline that it was tipped lmaoooooo

I was wondering if I was the only person who saw that. Most of the commotion here was about the PI in the end zone but I thought that that pass was close to being tipped by one of the DL and may not have been a penalty.

It was really close, theres a close up of it on the game highlights on YouTube. Imo hard to say it was tipped for certain to pick up the flag. Plus haden grabbed and pulls the reciever right before brees threw it so at the least its a hold imo.
