Except that he spent 8 months this year practicing/slapping, trying swim moves around, etc. everyday against that Houston OFFENSIVE LINE.
Aside from his knowledge of that D, you gotta imagine he has a very close knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of the OL.
.
The problem, Shmessy, is that you're math is wrong.
He wasn't spending 8 months doing anything against the Houston Offensive line. . He spent, maybe 4.5 months in total doing the things you mentioned. A week in July, then August, Sept, Oct, then on the IR for 6 weeks before going to IR-DTR for the 3 full weeks before he was activated. What's really interesting is that the Texans thought so highly of him that they ruled him OUT each week on FRIDAY of weeks 16, 17, 18, and WCG. That's despite being listed as Fully Practicing on the Thursday and Friday of each of those weeks.
He's a bottom of the roster guy who was only active for 4 games prior to being IRed and saw a whopping 35 defensive snaps and 29 Special Teams snaps. Yet, you want us to believe that he has such intimate knowledge of the defense that it will mean something? On a defense that's acknowledged as being extremely basic by, pretty much, everyone..
How many snaps do you think he was getting in practice as the 6th DE on their 53 man roster? How many snaps do you think he got against Ersery and Brown? What makes you think that he can offer an insight on the Strength and Weaknesses of Trent Brown that McDaniels doesn't already know? Or on Ersery, for that matter? You don't think the Pats have watched tape of every snap that Ersery has taken at the College and Pro-level to this point? To see his progression?
Taylor got snaps competing with Autry and Horton early in camp, but fell behind them and then fell behind Barnett when Barnett came off the PUP.
You'd think that this being his 5th year and only being 28, that he'd be able to step up and beat out Autry, Horton or Barnett, but he wasn't able to do that. It should tell you a lot that he wasn't able to beat out the 35 yr old Autry.
