Sneaky Darrell Taylor signing to practice squad

Sorry @PatsFan2 ...I figured I would go ahead and add this for you
Don't wear it out.

You stated "Aside from his knowledge of that D," Why make that statement if you didn't believe he'd have info on the D to offer?

As for HumInt. You're reading way too many spy novels.

Not sure if you used it, but the Ravens used to have the ALL-22 posted from their games on their website. . What was cool about it, is that the Ravens actually had Cameras set up so that you could look at any play from a 360 Degree View. It was hilarious because they had this up and running after "SpyGate" and you could easily see opposing teams coaches in plain sight. Or the Ravens coaches.

I guarantee you that the Patriots Scouting Staff has in depth knowledge on Jake Andrews. I guarantee you that McDaniels knows Trent Brown's foibles better than Trent Brown does. Considering that they Patriots heavily scouted Ersery, they likely know his stuff as well.

I made two statements in my initial post. Neither of which had to do with whether or not it was a good signing in terms of the player's ability or whether he'd be elevated for the game.

I honestly believe that Taylor was added for 2 reasons. First is that Thomas Brown has first hand knowledge of him from their year together on the Bears. The Second is that the Pats had no depth at EDGE. Swinson doesn't seem to have progressed at all and the Pats had no one on the PS in the event of an injury to Landry, Chaisson, Jennings, or Ponder. The only other EDGE players the Pats had on the roster this entire year were Truman Jones (who ended the year on the Titans Roster) and Caleb Murphy (who ended the year on the Giants 53).

Fine, now you're getting into linguistic parsing. I'd been away awhile, I forgot.

I have no idea whether his knowledge (or lack thereof) of their D may or may not be helpful - that's why I wrote "Aside from...."

WHATEVER he may or may not know about the D - - I'm more intrigued by the fact that this is someone who physically lined up against that OL during OTA's, Training Camp and weekly practices in this current season - - - and physically practiced/choreographed, whatever, how to get by, through and over these guys. That, to me, is interesting as a possible point of information. Simple as that.

The Guy is a former Second Rounder: Stranger things have happened Wozzy.
Draft position has zero importance once players are in the league.

K Chaisson have been our BEst Edge Rusher a *cheap* signing.

Chaisson turned his career around last season on another team.

This guy needs to get healthy first. Anything could happen, but the talk here like this guy is going to contribute immediately is kind of silly.

We know teams sign players from upcoming opponents, it’s common practice.

According to some fans it forever determines their fate. And it definitely colors perception of their performance by some fans for a very long time.

“Yeah, I feel like there’s stuff you can help with. You’ve been around. I’ve been there for freaking 10 months,” Taylor said. “I would say, yeah, there’s stuff I can help them out with, but there’s only so much they let me know over there. I didn’t play like that anyway, but I made sure I paid attention. There’s definitely stuff that I can help them with, especially going against that offense. Just going against them in practice every day. So, I feel like I can offer a lot for the Patriots to help us win this game.”

“It’s been a crazy situation,” Taylor said. “Just being with a team for a season and then getting let go before the first playoff game. It’s been tough. But getting the call from New England and talking with my agent and talking to the guys around here, it’s definitely been a wake-up for me just to be able to be back in the playoffs and have the opportunity to be elevated to help this team win. So I feel like in my book that’s a plus for me.”

Sounds like a game day elevation to me.

He gets off the line FAST. You don’t get 24.5 sacks in your 1st 4 years in the league by luck. Hope he gets a shot at the 53 next season.

Wouldn't it be interesting if he's more disruptive than the Guys on his Former Team?? Saw Keon White presssuring the QB for the 49ers. Gotta wonder if we pulled trigger on him a little early.

I believe Keon had similar production for the 49ers as he did with the Patriots this season…like none. IMO I think he has a problem understanding schemes / assignments. He wants to play his game and that’s it.

He spent two months on IR, and was recently activated from the IR list. Have to assume that in order to be reactivated from IR he has passed his physical and been found to be healthy enough to play. If that were not the case Houston would be on the hook for some grief under the CBA I think.

Keion was enjoying OJR (on job retirement) with the Patriots. His light didn’t go on until he got kicked to the curb in Foxboro. We could’ve kept him forever and nothing would have changed.

I’d like to see him be a productive member of the team for our three remaining games this season.

You hear that @Wozzy ??
PF2, the guy is a JAG. He was signed by the Texans for $4.75M (absolutely nothing) for 1 year (not multiple years), and then cut by the Texans after the season was over which saves them nothing (why cut him?). Literally assessed by the Texans as #53 on their roster of 53, worse player on the team, and cut.

Of course he is going to say he can really help the Patriots. He is about to drop out of the league forever and work at Walmart. Do you think this guy has a degree in investment banking or astrophysics? If the Pats cut him from the practice squad what is he going to do?

Jeebus, DaBruinz - take a look at Zuma's subsequent post above at 4:41pm today. It's almost as if Taylor is reading straight from my post. Go figure!

(and btw, Mark Daniels' report was published at 3:18pm - my post was at 2:42pm so I didn't see the interview before I posted - - and NO, I am neither Mark Daniels nor Darrell Taylor...............I'm Ernie ****ing Adams!!! (j/k).
