Rumor: Pats interested in Josh Rosen?

No way they draft Rosen...an outspoken, entitled kid who wants answers, for every action. Not to mention questionable leadership qualities at best, and a questioned passion for the game...yeah that's right up BB's alley!

I think a lot of the questions on his passion for the game and entitlement issues is mostly just trying to sell print. I don't buy them as red flags at all.

When it comes to him wanting answers for why everything is being done or that he has an ego I agree those are there but they are not automatically negatives. They could very well be positives if directed correctly. He clearly wants to be the OC on the field like Brady/Peyton. The ideal situation is to work with guys like McDaniels and BB who have the pedigree and mental aptitude so he can feel like his work is meaningful and not being wasted.

Don’t see it. I’ll eat crown if they do...but I’m not convinced they’ll draft a 1st round QB

Agree
They have huge needs at starting LT, starting CB, and improved depth on the DLine and LB corp

That’s not even including the possibilities of any offensive positions like TE, QB, WR, or RB, which I think many are overlooking. I think they are likely to choose a couple of those positions in the top 3 rounds.

I could see it if Rosen drops and the 49ers are picking at 9. I would like to see them draft a QB but i would be happy if they went defense in this draft.

Im also in the camp of fixing the holes on defense as well as a couple picks on the skill positions on offense this draft. If a qb we like slips great but no need to blow most of our picks to move up for one.

I think it's even simpler than that. I think the "leadership issues" ******** is dog-whistle antisemitism.

I expect us to draft a quarterback in the first round. It is quite possible that 6 QB's will be drafted in the first. I expect 5 to be drafted before 23, so depending on who we like, we may need to trade up.

Of course, we could also draft another after the first round.
===================
IMHO

ISSUE ONE
We shouldn't be planning for Brady to be playing for 4-5 more years, although he could surprise us.

ISSUE TWO
The patriots will not, and should not wait until the 2nd round, although 43 is possible.

THOUGHTS
To believe that the patriots won't use considerable resources to secure a QB because
they haven't is simply poor analysis, and an indictment of the GM and ownership. It is the height of hubris to believe that we should be find our franchise QB in the late rounds or that a franchise QB would be easily available to us next year.

The QB class is better this year than next. We have the resources this year. Even if we thought that next year's class were better, there is no guarantee that even 3 firsts would get us who we want next year. In any case, we would need to trade at least one pick into 2019 to have a reasonable shot at a top QB next year.

BOTTOM LINE
Yes, we need a CB to start in 2019 (and a guard). Yes, we need a DE or LB for 2018. And yes, we need an LT. However, this ownership is about continuity and always having a playoff team on the field. They will do their best to have a top QB available when Brady leaves, whenever that is. And while it is possible to draft a franchise QB with a comp pick in the 6th, the likelihood of success is much higher if a team drafts a QB in the first round.

I think if Rosen bought in (big ask, according to those in the know) he could be our Aaron Rodgers (not saying he is that good, just the situation with Favre). Sitting behind the GOAT, learning the ins and outs of the offense with Josh could work amazingly well if he was good with it.

Seems to have worked for Garoppolo...

I like rosen but if i know brady will play the next two seasons then i rather they draft a QB next year.

I'd call it more dog-whistle conservatism considering what he's been vocal about.

He doesn't love football enough, and has a rep for being a ****y a**hole. That doesn't sound like a future Patriot to me.

I don't think he's being portrayed fairly alot of people think Brady's a ******* and trust me the front office will do their homework to see if he loves football and is a jerk or not.

If we do trade up Rosen or Jackson Mayfield is more than likely gone unless Bill includes Gronk In a trade.
I'd draft Rosen and sign Manziel and let Manziel battle with Hoyer for number 3.
If we don't sign Hoyer I'd double dip for say Rosen and Falk or White.
My late round or undrafted binkie Kyle Allen could be a possibility as well.
Does anybody else think if Allen doesnt go top 5 and drops the Pats have shown interest in every QB accept Allen and Darnold could we shock and grab the strong armed Allen?
I wouldn't put it past this front office to do that or not even draft a QB at all.
