Are you going to suggest we move every player to safety until Richards is off the team?
I dont think Crossen would be any worse.
I tell ya I dont believe Gostkowski would be a good safety however does anyone believe Richards hauls in that sideline errant throw.
Hmmm

Yes it was.

All 3 of Dorsett, Brown & Thuney (who left his feet way too early) sucked on that play.

LOL at the starry-eyed homers who believed that Trent Brown - who has Never played LT during his first 3 seasons as a pro - would actually be an Improvement over Nate Solder.

Gotta love how you think you're smarter than Matt Chatham. But then, you think you're smarter than Bill Belichick so none of us are surprised at your egotism..

How did Dorsett suck if Brown and Thuney didn't do their jobs? Please think on it..

Yeah I don’t see how anyone can blame that on Dorsett. Brown clearly didn’t know the playcall.
He looked lost a few times. I'm guessing it was designed to get to the 2nd level. Clear out anything if need be but the point seemed to get out in front for PD. Brown just took a bad path & that lil hitch didn't help.

As long as we can depend on him for pass blocking some of the best out there I'll live w that but he's far from a franchise T rn.

I don’t necessarily think Dorsett scores even if Brown blocks his man. There were two other Eagles guys who closed in very fast.

While the highlight of this clip is Davis sacking the QB, note that #44 does a very nice job picking up the back and turning downfield with him in coverage. Sam is clearly behind the rest of the linebacking corp, but he's an easy mover with upside. Could be a good nickel guy.
If Bill & Judge like what they see from him on STs, then Sam is worth keeping on the 53 to see if his run & chase skills can be converted to coverage skills.

Barring further injuries, the "LB"s should be:
Hightower, Van Noy, MFlowers, Bentley, Sam.

No need for Roberts , at all.

if PFF thinks Mason is a good pass blocker, then their criteria is suspect. There are lots of folks who think Mason is not great at it.

PFF sucks. Stop using it for anything but unbiased data. Problem solved.

I am out of state and didn't see the game but I'm struck by how little attention is given here to the 8 sacks by the Pats defense.

How many of those sacks were against Philly 3rd stringers?

Rivers got a few mentions here but Clayborn was barely mentioned and Keionta Davis had 1.5 sacks is he a lock to make the 53?

I think 2 or 3 of the sacks came in the second half with most of the #1s done for the evening. However, the Pats' pass rush did a number on the Philly (mostly) #1s in the first half with pressures and sacks.

They did fairly well in run-D, too, and Davis was a part of that. While his pressures/sacks came against the Philly scrubs, I thought he held his own pretty well while playing with the Pats #1s in the first half. The Pat coaches got a good, long look at Davis (58 snaps, I think), and it seems to me they couldn't have been displeased.

I'm not sure that Davis is a lock yet, but I'm thinking he's gotten closer.

Quietly optimistic about most phases of the game except the WR’s (fine but not much of a downfield/sideline threat) and pass defense after the first two games of the season (kickoff coverage too). Have been tentatively excited by the pass rush and linebacking corps and the aggressiveness shown their but with the conditional that pre-season isn’t necessarily the best indicator.

I agree about a boundry guy being the missing part on offense yet. I guess this is where Gronk and (hopefully) Britt will come in.

I’m glad hat Patterson has flashed but a litttle concerned he’s not getting more usage earlier in the games. Is he still having issues with route running (his long-term issue)?

I don't think he will be ever much better than what he has shown in his first years. Now maybe McD and O'Shea will find route combinations that they can polish but he is just not a natural route runner.

What will definitely happen is that they will use him in a more impactful way to the overall game than previous coaching staffs.

In other words once brown starts moving in one direction he’s just to damn big to change direction in open space to adjust to where the small guy goes. That’s why big men in space are usually moving forward and the runner plays off how the defender commits.

You just proved my point.

Brown should have sold the run blocking with just a bit of happy feet and launched forward, but he comes back at a very bad angle, blocking the DB to the outside which leaves Dorsett no choice but to run inside.

Like you said, if Brown was going forward, Dorsett would have had the option of which side of the block to play off.

from the start i felt something Butler like in bringing in Crossen (EDIT: nothing to do with play similarity . something underdog “intangible“) . and this was a nice omen

Crossen runs around like an ape on PCP, mauling everyone, but you have got to like his intensity, attitude, and enthusiasm. There's a reason he fell to the 7th round- undeveloped raw talent but a lot of upside.

I really hope we find a way for him to stick around.

Agreed. He made mistakes but there is talent, and athleticism, there. Puts me in mind of that guy who got released and signed with the Jets. Sorry, name escapes me.

I’m not sure what your point is. Mine is that it’s hard for a 380 lb OL to catch a 200lb DB in space.
But whatever, let’s just say you are right. You need one.
