I feel that Bentley is underappreciated here personally.
What do I know, I'm JAG.
Nah, everybody has a right to an opinion and share what they see.

He's a fine LB. The problem is that the team is built off other LB's like him such as Tavai which exposes the both of them whenever they play competent offenses. The Pats have needed a LB for years that can travel east west. Dre Greenlaw is that guy if his health checks out.

I think he's a fine, starting caliber player. But he has physical limitations that make him not fit that well in some schemes. His coverage skills make him someone that, in an ideal world, you wouldn't have to leave on the field as much as we do though. And if you put him in that type of role, then he can't wear the green dot. So I think MLB is just one of those spots you'd like to have a true 3-down player if possible since you have to leave him out there full time.

Maybe so, but he actually TACKLES People, which we didn't see much after he went down last year.
Those little guys are better moving L-R, but no chance they are better at actual TACKLING than Bentley.
Maybe there is more than 1 way to do this.
I don't say anyone is wrong, I just throw out options.

No lack of appreciation was intended. Just an observation that Vrabel's history suggests he likes smaller quicker linebackers.

I think he needs both Big, and Small linebackers personally.
I said I could be wrong, maybe he wants just small guys that get hurt more, I dunno.
Bentley is a smart player, we'll see.

Jonathan Jones burnt toast.
Watch his last three games last year. When you fall off a cliff, it happens fast.

Bentley's not going anywhere. He just may not be an every-down linebacker like he was previously. You're right, he's better than a lot of people give him credit for, and remember him getting torched by running backs his first couple of years here. You know, because nobody ever improves. Like the people who still **** on Steph Gilmore.

And you're arguing to do the opposite of passing on FA CBs (which is a need) to draft one instead. I'm not saying don't sign WRs. I'm saying also sign a CB, to do exactly what you're suggesting here.

It depends on the players you're talking about.
I listed 4 different ones and a Special Teams CB that the Pats should look at in the Free Agency Acquisition thread.

you know you have issues at LB when Bentley is your best option. He is fine but should be your best LB. We need to improve in that area and also add some speed.
Bentley is an very good LB. He's a leader on defense. He's spent almost his entire career with the Green Dot. He regularly makes adjustments for the "front". He was even better when working in tandem with McCourty because they'd feed off each other.

Agreed there. CB 2 is a sneakily a needed position as like Vrabel said so many teams play with multiple DBs on the field so the need is apparent. Ideally you'd want marcus/jon in the slot where they use thier skill sets better. I also like bolden, dial to also make a case for themselves this camp.

What do you mean "sneakily"?? Most everyone has been saying that the Pats need a CB2 and CB3. Someone opposite Gonzalez and someone for the Slot.

Jonathan Jones is gone unless they're putting him at FS where he can play with people in front of him. Otherwise, he was toast last year.

Marcus Jones can't stay healthy. As such, he's only a CB4/CB5. And I say that as someone who has been a fan of his since the Pats drafted him.

Alex Austin, Isaiah Bolden, and Marcus Dial good depth CBs.. Bolden's best position is probably FS. He played there and CB during his rookie year before that bad concussion he took. I'd like to see him back there again to see if he can handle it.

Always felt he was overrated. Don't know why we even resigned him last year.
Barmore’s illness forced their hand and took any leverage they had in negotiations last offseason.

Godchaux is less of a system fit in Vrabel’s defense. He’s also on the wrong side of 30 and signed a two year deal last year that was really a one year deal with money spread out over two years… so he wants a new contract.

That's what I keep saying the deal he got last season was front loaded with Guaranteed money. I'm all for players to get thier money anyway they can. But he knows his days are numbered he can go somewhere and be a part time role player on a contender.

OK Cousins, How about a block buster trade to start the weekend? The stats and numbers all work.

Light breakfast this morning. Brioche bread french toast, well buttered and real maple syrup. Add a glass of pomegranate/cranberry juice and a cup of tea.

Lets play with some Draft picks and trades on a boring Friday afternoon.

Titans have needs and CAP issues (a little better with the CAP number raise).

Titan's Harold Landry has permission to talk to other Teams and so does Godchaux. Landry is a Vrabel guy.. Also All Pro DT Jeffrey Simmons is a elite Vrabel guy.His salary is pricey at $23.5mm per year but that is good until 2027.

Now one of the Titans sneaky needs is at Safety. Diggs was brought in but lasted on a few games after being effective, then lost with a foot injury. We have a guy that might fit the Titans in Kyle Dugger (with ankle mend). His Salary averages $14.5mm and is also good until 2027.

What else do the Titans need? A QB. .............Joe Milton might be the best QB option in this Draft class.

You are not getting All Pro Simmons for a bag of donuts but he is a Vrabel guy. Think of him in the middle of the fray.

My trade idea is Godchaux, Dugger and Milton and pick #4, for Simmons, Landry and their 2nd round pick #35 and 4th round pick #119 (they have two)

I say fair deal for all. Vrabel gets some of his guys on board.
For your number#4 pick, would you be happy with Simmons, Landry, a top second round pick and a 4th rounder for a player that doesn't want to be here, a player who was signed to a deal that was not worth it and a young QB who is at this point going to sit behind Drake Maye for ? years A definite maybe QB?

Thoughts and threats?

P.S Than you can dangle #119 to the Niners for Deebo or the Rams for Kupp. Yep....you still need more at WR but this is a start.

Landry will go to Eagkes to replace Josh Sweat

Big multi piece trades like this rarely if ever happen in the NFL. This only happens in the NBA.
