Jernigan is the other one on that line who was a disappointment ( I specifically remember Kiper raving about him, and then I knew he'd be mediocr, lmao) and Curry is one of those guys that simply disappears for large stretches.

I dont think Jernigan is a disappointment at all. In fact he was a terror against our OL in that 2014 game. Just recently Lombardi said that the only player who could block him was Stork and they had to slide protection in that game towards where ever Jernigan was.

He is not a superstar but he doesn't need to be that. I hope that whatever illness he has will affect his conditioning and power on Sunday because that would alleviate a lot of concerns I have with their DL.

I think Foles not being a running threat is probably the biggest game-plan difference people might not be looking at here.

Look at the titans game before Mariota strained his quad and after. Once they realized mariotta wasn't a running threat they dialed on the heat to focus on rushing the passer to the tune of 11 sacks.

Bortles was a running threat and you saw the patriots play (in the first half at least) a contained rush to keep him from gashing them on the outside. The pats also played more zone because a running QB can gash you when everyone's backs are turned to the QB. And that played right into the RPO's because linebackers/CB's had to play more off coverage

With Foles not being a running threat, Bill can let the front 4-7 focus more on dialing up pressure. and He can let the secondary play more man coverage and try and force Foles to make quick throws into tight coverage.

A big/sneaky matchup is chung vs. Ertz.

Chung effectively took delanie walker out of the game against the titans. If he can win his matchup against Ertz that will be big.

Jernigan had a tremendous year. Calling him any sort of "disappointment" is a joke.

Meh. Like the rest of the Dline, not really a big factor in the two Giants games, though. Eagles stopped the run, but Eli had a field day playing with a JAG OL and JAG receivers (no Beckham in the 2d game). Good pass blocking in both games.

As far as being "in trouble against a good D" you realize the Vikings had the best D in the league this year and Philly beat them?

Anyway, it's not the RPO itself that's the big issue- it's how the RPO is used in conjunction with the rest of Philly's offense. It's a complimentary aspect- sort of a bailout if you will, if things go south for Philly.

The loss of Rhodes was massive. Him leaving completely changed their defense.

I think he got back in the game after couple of series. Sendejo was out in the 2nd half and he was a game time decision anyway, him being banged up hurt them a lot .

I wasn't aware he had gone out. Thanks for pointing that out.
Actually, I was wrong. I got the Saints and Eagles games mixed up. He left the Saints game and got torched a couple of times against the Eagles. He was playing hobbled and it didn’t look like the Vikings adjusted.

Indeed. Rhodes effectively shuts down half the field. The Vikings seemed to leave him on an island a lot still when he probably needed a safety shaded to his side more often than he got.

I think first big TD came on a broken play, Foles was about to be sacked but Newman ventured too far from his initial assignment and Jeffery simply got behind him while Smith was busy watching his rushers. Newman got torched couple of times against the Saints as well. You cant put soon-to-be-40 guy on other team`s quickest receiver.
Second TD was another defensive blunder, Waynes is straight in front of Smith, then suddenly turns his head towards LOS for a few seconds and Smith is already 5 yards past him. Harrison Smith was covering TE over the middle and by the time he realized what was going on...

yeh I just thought that the Vikings got caught a lot in bad coverage which I was suprised about and lets guys get behind them...I really think it was an anomaly.

After rewatching the eagles falcons game I came away with a few key points...

Foles relied heavily on dump offs and screens

Falcons had a easy game changing interception bounce right off the safety and flukishly landed right in their arms to set up a FG.

When Eagles did move the ball through the air and it wasn’t a dump off or screen, it was an RPO little in cut route for 8 yards to Jeffery or Ertz.

On the other side of the ball I think it is simple. Stay way from the teeth of the DL and get the ball out quick.

Play action seemed to work as eagles sought to devour the run

Spread it out, make it a horizontal game early and they will soften them up

I really like the offensive matchup
