Actually, after looking at this play several times, I believe Micah Hyde. He told BB after the game that "he stared him down," meaning Brady was staring at Edelman. When Brady was drawing his arm back to release the ball, Hyde pushed off Meyers and went ball hawking. Not sure Meyers ran the wrong route because Edelman was 7-8 years deep yards deep in the end zone coming back for the ball and Meyers was at the 1. On the other hand, it is not clear what Meyers was doing except occupying Hyde at the 1.
Just read this from Lazar (just got home from work)
"Once he gets off Gordon, Brady wants Edelman in the back of the end zone as Edelman finds some space on an out route. However, Brady loses Hyde, who is covering Jakobi Meyers in the flat, and Hyde peels off of Meyers to intercept the pass."
I said the same exact thing before this piece came out. Also confirmed the C3 I saw during the game.
Also DM Mark Schofield last night who echoed the same thing
"That's all on Brady. Hyde even said that Brady stared it down the whole way. He wanted to work backside to Gordon, came off it due to coverage/pressure, and really stared down 11 all the way."
Also all one has to do is watch Brady go through his progressions (again this isn't opinion) Edleman was his 2nd read on the play. He locked onto him & made a bad decision.
************ even Hyde himself says Brady was locked on 11.
Opinions are great but film don't lie. Brady was never looking at/for Meyers. Has nothing to do w 12 throwing an INT. It's embarrassing.
