Patriots Trade for Michael Bennett

You are precious. Your preconceived bias cannot find any objectivity.

That's rather unnecessary. But also extremely ironic in light of this ...

The arresting officers were 2 Hispanic and 1 African American ... He had NO ID on him. What kind of grown adult goes around without an ID? Seriously. He wasn't exactly swimming in only trunks in a pool. The casino had many African Americans present without issues on their part.

You accuse another poster of being unable to be objective or unbiased, yet imply/assume certain things based information that does not warrant said implications/assumptions.

guy is a douche, but can rush the QB, that is all

We will learn a lot about the team's attitude if they sign a new deal with Michael Bennett, replacing his current contract with one including a bonus and incentives.

The $1M roster bonus should be due next week.

Personally, I expect that team expect him to be an important part of the defense. Belichick doesn't sign someone for $7.6M a year on a whim. BTW, Bennett is signed through 2020.
FYI I believe his roster bonus is per game.

What should we tell the children?

So, the current contract is totally one sided, with all the benefits on the side of the patriots (and all the choices).

I don’t know how it’s any more one sided than any other contract.

I suppose a lot of players come to the patriots with no bonuses.

I don’t know how it’s any more one sided than any other contract.

I found the combination scents of jasmine and cigarette smoke to be very fancy if not downright a touch of high society
Doesn’t it quickly get stale?

What is the guarantee that Bennett will honor his contract?

What is the guarantee that any player will honor his contract.

The patriots risked a 2020 5th, chump change, to acquire a starting DE. The amount of guaranteed money is ZERO.

He wants more than he is being paid.

My guess is that the patriots will sign a new contract with him that will include incentives.

What is the guarantee that Bennett will honor his contract?

The Eagles — who are in cap hell — got Malik Jackson for about the same price as an aging Bennett.

Jackson is 4 years younger and still in his prime. Bennett is 33, going on 34 in November.

Question is, what didn't Belichick see in Jackson that he saw in Bennett?

Well, here’s one potential thing: certainty. The cost was very cheap and the competition was low, so they were guaranteed to get him. On the other hand, Malik Jackson would have to agree to play here. If he strings them along and then doesn’t choose them, the Pats could have missed out on other options.

Belichick could have also signed Jackson. After all, lot of us also wanted him to sign Flowers after Bennett was signed. Belichick chose not to. Then the team could have waited to see what they had in Bennett, and kept him (instead of Clayborn) or not.

Let's be clear. Belichick wanted Bennett on the team.

“Aging” Bennett was significantly more productive than “Prime” Jackson last season. It wasn’t even remotely close. 9 sacks to 3.5, 30 QB hits to 12, 15 TFLs to 7.
