Patriots trade for 49er's OT Trent Brown

It did. It settled down. The fact that over the last 10 regular season games they allowed 14ppg is pretty damn good and tells me it was a good defense despite the injuries.
No that doesn’t count because they had one bad game. So that means they such because other defenses (the ones that were sitting at home) surely never had a bad game they only allow more points because we are the only team in the league that ever faces a bad offense.

Looking at a Niners board, this guy is a monster in pass blocking but dismal as a run blocker. Out of shape. Coming off an injury. "Inconsistent worker" since JUCO days. They'd be surprised if he passes his physical.

Somebody should tell Trenton Brown that Dante Scarnecchia is on the other side of this trade. This will not end well,

Brown passed the Pats physical today. Cheer up.

Did you know that the browns rush defense was awful those two years when shelton was there in his natural scheme? I hope he works out here and bill gets the best out of him. Browns had no issues getting rid of him. In terms of clayborn not much of a fan but if he can bring some pressure it can always help.

Yeah. I'm sure that was entirely Shelton's fault, in spite of the fact that, as a 343-lb nose tackle, he was their 5th-leading tackler in 2016 with 59 total tackles.

Well isn't he supposed to be a run stuffer? He's a big body. In 2017 it was much improved with some other guys they got. They said goodbye. Again don't try to act like this guy has been great. He hasn't. Maybe a change in venue will do him good.

Belichick already has his solution for Brown -- fat camp.

The fat man has arrived. So much for running lean.

Huh? The defense had a handful of bad games last year. HOU, CAR, KC, MIA, PHI. Out of 19 games they had 5 clunkers. Thats decent (except for the last one...)

He was their 5th leading tackler with 59 tackles in only his second season in the NFL (that's Wilfork-level, btw). Three of the four players with more tackles were cornerbacks. Where were all the LBs? The DEs? He may well have been the Browns only "run-stuffer".

Again, the Browns traded him because they switched to a scheme that doesn't use a nose tackle like Shelton. He didn't fit their new scheme.

I'm not saying he's "great". I'm only saying that he'll have more opportunities to succeed here because (A) he fits the Pats' scheme a lot better than he fit the Brown's new scheme, and (B), he'll have some better players around him.

You're acting as if the Browns shedding him is some kind of proof that he's a piece of sh*t who's just hoping to salvage some shred of a career with the Pats.

Do you just not understand scheme and role differences? I'm not being sarcastic; that's a real question.

I understand it clearly dude. I don't know what they offered him. All I know is that they wasted all these picks focusing on the OL when this defense gave up 41 freaking points in the super bowl!

First of all I ain't your f..ing dude, you brought up how they should keep Solder and I articulated how they probably couldn't because of salary cap issues.. It seems to me that the Pats are "retooling" their O-Line, which is difficult to disagree with..

I did not address the Defense..

I meant from the point you were referencing where they allowed 14 ppg

Well hell, who can second guess the Cleveland Browns?

They still have Cannon and Waddle, with Garcia returning. Wynn looks like a starting tackle. They paid a steep price just to bring in another depth OT. I think they must see it differently, although it certainly isn't clear what they are doing.

the defense still stinks.

but at least we have 4 offensive tackles!!!

should of kept solder..

then we wouldn't need to waste a draft pick on trent brown. i mean wtf...good ol tom is going to have play to perfection to win games again. you'd think BB would want to make things easier for his 41 year old QB? nope..
things just get harder.

this team is not better than the one that played in the SB.

"Should of paid" attention in free agency.
