Here's another question for you guys to consider. Do you think it's worth trading and paying for a guy who had one of the best offensive minds in football to a team with a questionable QB, OL and a massive downgrade in coaching. This is a bizarre move Bobby is willing to take.

I don’t see how this moves the needle at all. Is Aiyuk even anything special? Hard to gauge the niners skill positions individually since they have studs everywhere.

I think if they do this deal it's a sign that they fundamentally disagreed with Bill's methods of team building. I think that's really the key. They moved on from Mac and Bill, that's it. Resigned nearly everyone. It screams that they feel that Bill and Mac were the problem and they think they can compete with young guys.

I think whether they land him or not it is pretty clear that the new regime thinks that Bill (and Mac to some extent) were the main problems. Based on the amount of guys they retained from the last couple years it seems like they're thinking with a more aggressive approach on offense and better drafting they can turn this thing around.

Aiyuk had more yards than our entire WR last year. Literally.
Last year was a completely different unit and oh yeah, Mac the worst QB in football.

Have to get back to the playoffs.

Just remember BB didn't want Mac but he probably cursed his way outta town in doing so.

I don’t think k that’s what is going on at all. I think Kraft felt it was time to move on from Belichick, and he believes Mayo will become a good head coach. And the players they re-signed are either veterans on short term deals to keep from creating holes and going backwards, and the younger players like Duggar and Onwenu they want to build around. I think they realize that they still have plenty of upgrades they have to make to get to a true contender status, I don’t think they believe that just getting rid of Jones and Belichick fixed everything for the franchise.

It's interesting that Bill didn't see the value of how he approached 2007 in surrounding Tom with a much talent as possible during the 2nd dynasty. There were missed opportunities that came back to haunt them and many WR's that were passed up for players that Bill didn't need. We are very lucky they won 3 more after 2004.

I don't care who the QB is. One receiver outproducing an entire room is an embarrassment. Thinking that group of receivers could help win anything was antiquated thinking.

That group last year was so bad, DB's were taking the day off. But from what we've heard so far from Polk and Baker, it could finally change.

Also, the defense was not anywhere in the same class as the better defenses such as the 49ers and Chiefs.

Aiyuk is a better player than Ridley.
Its debatable. Not so much better that its worth trading away a 2025 2nd rounder

I like the player but the timing is all wrong.

Baker or Polk could become Lamb, be patient and develop the youth.
Bring in a guy like Aiyuk and it cleans the field up for both of those guys. Allows them to see more single coverage, get schemed to get open, build confidence and develop. This team isn't close to sniffing the superbowl. Our focus has to be on development and entertainment. Aiyuk checks both of those boxes.
