Yes but I am comparing their 2023 roster to what the Pats would have with Aiyuk on their 2024 roster. The common claim is that "Aiyuk benefitted from the other players on SF's roster". So I am comparing those other guys that Aiyuk played alongside last year to the guys he would play alongside in NE. No sense in adding newly drafted players that Aiyuk has never played with.

Fair enough.

The 49ers haven’t won the super bowl with him.

Aiyuk has 393 yards and 1 TD in nine playoff games… he disappears like David Blaine in the playoffs because, again, nothing special.
I thought football was a team sport. Now it isn't?

Williams was an unusual situation where the team doctors botched a lump on his head they thought was a cyst for years, but turned out to be cancerous. He never played for Washington again after having to miss the 2019 season.

Interesting. I wasn’t aware of that. But it reinforces just how rare it is to get a franchise LT via trade.

Samuel was injured for games last year and when he played he clearly wasn't the same guy. And it was Aiyuk's best season. And in 2022, McCaffrey missed about a third of the season and Deebo missed four games and Aiyuk was the leading receiver on the 49ers that year. In fact, he has been the leading receiver for the team the last two years.
They’re a good team regardless, good teams adjust and adapt.
Kinda strange that opposing teams wouldn't account for a team's leading WR.
No coordinator is rolling coverage towards Aiyuk, they put their CB on him and defend the entire field.

When Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson or Tyreek is on the field they cover him with their best CB and put safety help over the top. Apples/oranges

My thoughts, while the Pats have been pursing Aiyuk since before the draft, and since the Pats want to be a run first team, if the current WRs were as good as reported, the need to continue to purse Aiyuk would go away and the Pats would better benefit by retaining next years draft pick. That said, I am a big Aiyuk fan and would love to see him on the Pats.

They won’t know how good or bad the young receivers are until the season is either well along or over.

I Didn’t say aiyuk is trent, i said his equivalent at LT. I know our views of aiyuk differ but i think you can at least acknowledge he is a great wr. I would trade a 2nd and change for a great Lt in a heartbeat but there are none available.

I like how our wrs look but they have a long ways to go before being compared to aiyuk.
I think he is a very good not great WR in a great situation on the 49ers. On a lesser offense he gets exposed as merely being a very good possession receiver.

Who has used the word great for any of receivers this camp? I've been to practice a bunch and several receivers look pretty good but none are Great. Pop is the closest but I wouldn't use the term great on him yet. I don't think I'd call Aiyuk great either but he'd be our best if the trade went down.
I’m not sure about that. He certainly would log the most snaps and receive the lion’s share of targets at 30M per… but best? Let’s see what Demario, Baker and the rest become before we make that assumption.

Looks like game day thread practice is in full swing.

Joe Thomas was another rare example where Cleveland was willing to trade him to Denver in 2015, but he declined.
So trading Aiyuk and plugging the rookie Pearsall in won’t affect them at all. They know this, which is why they’re trying to scam someone into trading a high draft pick for Aiyuk.
Pearsall has had a pretty bad camp, which is why it's odd the 49ers are willing to trade Aiyuk. Deebo is also showing the wear and tear. I've said it before, but they have to find a way to convince him to play out his last year.

Mac Jones made that guy do it. His fault again.
You just compared Aiyuk to Randy Moss a couple pages back… lay off the meth creeper.

No I said he is an X receiver, which he is. And the last legit one we had was Moss.

I blame Mac Jones for your poor reading comprehension.

He missed some camp with injury, while that’s bad in general it’s not bad play. He needs to get healthy.

Every WR the Pats don’t have is Randy Moss, the second best and single best athlete at WR in NFL history. Sounds legit…

They've said he can't seperate.

Newsflash for you! The Patriots are not ever going to get Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson, or Tyreek quality of receiver unless they are lucky enough to draft him. Those type of receivers rarely available in trade. And they usually take the motherload of picks to get them.

If the Pats were able to trade for CeeDee Lamb for what it would take to get Aiyuk, I would be all for it. But if by the remote possibility he is available for trade next offseason, he will likely take the Pats' first round pick which could be a top 5 pick and much more.

When the last X receiver that was merely "good" that the Patriots have had was Randy Moss there's only one guy to blame for that but you'll get triggered if I mention his name so I won't. And he was fired anyway.

Good news, Chuks Okorafor is the next Anthony Munoz… we’re all set.

It's Mac Jones fault if he isn't. Clearly.
