Newsflash for you! The Patriots are not ever going to get Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson, or Tyreek quality of receiver unless they are lucky enough to draft him. Those type of receivers rarely available in trade. And they usually take the motherload of picks to get them.

If the Pats were able to trade for CeeDee Lamb for what it would take to get Aiyuk, I would be all for it. But if by the remote possibility he is available for trade next offseason, he will likely take the Pats' first round pick which could be a top 5 pick and much more.
Baker or Polk could become Lamb, be patient and develop the youth.

It's Mac Jones fault if he isn't. Clearly.

He has the look of someone who can't believe it either when you post something without blaming Mac Jones.

But I blame him. All his fault.

They could, but odds are extremely against it even if both end up being home run picks.

So if Aiyuk is traded to the Patriots, does his FF value go up or down? Inquiring minds want to know.

They'll play 3 WR sets about 70% of the time... so bench one of those guys, and it won't be Aiyuk at 30 million per.

You're also benching Osborn, Thornton and Reagor and cutting one of these outright probably.
I would be ok cutting any of those 3 to make room for Aiyuk and would be more than ok preserving 1 of the first WRs mentioned in a rotation of sorts , esp pop considering his build / injury history.

Looks like game day thread practice is in full swing.
It is basically one guy shouting over and over that Aiyuk isn't that good and isn't worth trading for and that the cap is such a crucial aspect to team building that we need to not trade for good players in fear of the dreaded "cap hell".

If that is the case we might as well just shut it down for the year and let the league know we will forfeit all 17 games. There is no way we can keep that dream team on the bench, or dare I say, cut one of them.

Pinpointed

I’m not sure about that. He certainly would log the most snaps and receive the lion’s share of targets at 30M per… but best? Let’s see what Demario, Baker and the rest become before we make that assumption.
No that's not the point. Right now the second the trade occurs he's our best. Yes Pop, Polk, and Baker still have plenty of room to grow. But my real point is none of them are great.

Aiyuk is probably not getting better so he likely never gets to Great.

Pop had a good rookie year and even in limited time this camp already looks improved so I'd say he has the best chance to reach Great. But he's not even better than Aiyuk yet.

Polk I suppose was drafted high enough that he could become great but I have seen someone who looks pretty good so far but no way can I say great yet.

Baker wasn't drafted as high so less likely but then again he already looks pretty good too so who really cares about draft slot now and he looks to be close to Polk in talent already so I guess I'd give him a similar chance.

With Polk and Baker I think they've shown enough to get worthy of PT on a bad team what their ceilings are we've barely scratched that surface.

Those guys are awesome receivers now?

The Patriots go from 4 wins in Vegas to 4 wins… the line doesn’t move at all.

And you’re right, Aiyuk’s fantasy stock tanks.

Our entire WR room combined gets paid less than you’d pay Aiyuk.

I don’t know if it’s necessary to cut WR’s just yet if Aiyuk is signed. Chances are someone will get hurt…wait as long as possible. They have about 3 weeks to make that decision.
