Patriots officially sign Jamie Collins

Just read a report on PFT where his HC IMPLIED that there was an "effort" issue. He didn't come out and say it, but he mentioned Collins was fast, but his rookie was a guy with super "effort" Hard to miss. Even Volin would have caught it.

Perhaps that effort would come alive, but I don't see it. Looks like the Pats have a full complement of LB already.
He looked slow and out of place and dare I say lazy the other night. Noticed it several times. Especially on one of the TD passes somewhere down around the 5 or 10, didn't give much effort getting out to his guy. And then again gave little effort on and run.

But it appeared to me they had him lined up inside. So it maybe a comfort level thing, reacting slow that looks like a effort issue.

Or then it could be an effort issue learning the ILB position....who knows. Either way I'd take him back. I saw the original and the sequel and both were very solid. The Triliogy usually sucks but you have to see it to find out.

i think you are 100 percent correct. Collins is just going through the motions and that is what is driving Detroit’s desire to him along.

Depends? What does she look like? Is she just a little crazy or plain old bat **** crazy burn your house down type?
She’s very good looking and great in the sack but we would just argue about the lamest stuff. And she might be signed with another team now for all I know. Maybe someday I’ll be able to play her in my fantasy league.

No thanks.. we need a nosetackle

I have to agree with the small but vocal RT contingent. Collins would be more a "win now" they're right on the cusp mid-season move whereas finding a better swing tackle allows for the continued maturation of the offense under the new rookie QB.

Should I get back together with my ex-girlfriend for the seventh time?
I think the analogy is more like keeping an escort on a retainer, dropping her for another, then going back to her.

Collins was geting cut this off season, he has a 10 million non guarenteed salary for 2020, nobody is paying that, The Lions are still on the hook for $333,333,334 of his signing bonus next year, or they can absorb it this year if they can trade him.

Whoever trades for him will be laible for the 3 million thats left on this years contract and wouldhave to cut him before 2022 to avoid paying the 10 million salary.

SO at this point, I'm sure they would take some magic beans to get rid of him.

Collins has always been at his best when he's played for us not sure if he'd be able to crack the starting lineup here.

Collins lack of effort at tin the second half of 2019 is one of the reasons the Pats fell to the WC. Weeks 9-14 Collins was mediocre.. He didn't sniff a sack or QB hit. It was during those games that the "Boogeymen" became Clowns.. Including the ridiculous loss to Miami to end the season.

I just don't see Belichick bringing him back.

Pass.

Bringing back Collins would be going to a used car lot and buying the car that you traded in 2 years ago and paying a premium for it now.

Yep.

Once he got enough "stats" for his FA run, he checked out. It's what he does. Why Detroit gave him a huge deal, I have no idea. Desperation, I guess.

I think the Chiefs are the best fit for Collins. If he plays up to his potential, then he'd be an upgrade for them as a starting ILB. If he doesn't want to put in the effort at ILB (an accusation that has been made against him on all three of his NFL teams), then even just contributing as a pass rush specialist would fill a major need for the Chiefs right now. They rank near the bottom of the NFL in most pass rush stats so far this season.

I would much rather trade for a CB, DT, or WR

Wait till he’s cut , if we need the depth next year

Even if cut?

we all know he's going to the Bucs, and will end the season as an All-Pro

And yet when we sign him in a few days you will crown Bill and be all onboard with the move.
