Patriots hosting OL Greg Van Roten

I was apologizing in any way you wanted it to be. But that doesn't change that you are stubborn and narrow minded. Even caring that I think this in a nameless faceless forum says something.

I'd appreciate you not comment on my posts, and I will not comment on yours.

I will continue to read your posts because you are one of the most entertaining posters, whether it be from knowledge of the game, or from something sick inside of me that enjoys them.

It's like watching a person on one of those reality cable shows.
I will respond to whatever posts I choose to.

The fact that you feel the need to act like a child is not surprising.

According to the American Psychological Association, rates of perfectionist disorder in the United States have increased dramatically since the 1980s. A study conducted among English-speaking cultures such as Canada, America, and the UK, Curran and Hill found that the proportion of people who showed perfectionist traits had risen 33% from 1989 to 2016.
I'm having a hard time with the exactly 33% number. Can't be right.

Heck the least he could've done was keep Strange69 last year as insurance, then re-evaluate at season's end...
I concur, doctor.
I also would've gone hard after the Pride of Dartmouth via Duxbury MA, UDFA G/C Delby Lemieux, currently on the Vikings' 90...
The Dartmouth product and huge Patriots fan 100% should be in Foxboro. A travesty. Heaven will send thunderbolts of retribution this season.

Seriously got to grab a decent guard after final cutdowns. But picking second to last doesn't help. Bring back Cole Strange says I.

If a veteran guard cut, they don’t have to pass through waivers, correct?

I don't care if he is old. I care how good he is, if he has 1 more year left, and how much he cost. And of course, does he fit the scheme?

He has been a decent starting level guard the past 2 years. And in those past 2 years he has earned 3M in 2024 (total with incentives) and 3.25M in 2025. With playing incentives last years contract turned out to be 3.75M. So assuming he signs something similar he will probably cost us 3.5M before incentives.

I am not against a 3.5M (up to 4 if he plays) emergency plan when you have AVT on your team. To say because of his age you shouldn't consider paying someone peanuts who is starter level at a position where you might have question marks.... I just don't see the point.

Fortunately and unfortunately we are stuck with AVT for the next 2 years. Hopefully he stays healthy. If worse comes to worse we spent a bit under 24M (including the dead cap in 2028 of about 2M) on him. To add a 4M a year price tag insurance plan for him and Onwenu wouldn't be a bad idea. I am not saying they should. But it should be considered.

Doesn't that depend on when the release takes place, such as before/after the trade deadline etc...?
Yes, but I thought you meant the impending cutdowns. After the deadline everyone does, I’m pretty sure. I don’t think vets do at this time of year.

Legit chance?

Strange signed a 2 year 13 million dollar contract with 9 million total guaranteed.

You be screaming "Strange Love" or something like that if they paid him that here.

I wasn't aware of his contract status; I just knew that he had signed with them... And yes, after already signing AVT, paying him that amount would've been overkill.

They should have let him backup last year, and then let him walk.

Definitely would have gotten his chance, though Ben Brown ended up good.

No problems here. It does underscore that next year, you need to toss in a day 1 or day 2 pick at guard. Or maybe several.

I know defense needs help, too, but OL protects such a vital part of the team's present and future that I would give it first priority every year.

On offense I could see an argument for drafting OL and TE high again. On defense…practically every position.
