Patriots Have Called on Jeudy

What's sad is Bourne is still an unknown after the chaos of the offense the last 2 years.
He is full of potential though, and despite Matty P's doghouse, he seems to be a very likable locker room guy who wants to buy in.

Another good sign, is Parker's quick chemistry that developed with Mac in short time gives me hope that Mac will be able to get the most out of JuJu - who may be super motivated to prove he can be a #1WR (since failing in PIT after AB left)

I have a gut feeling they aren’t done yet, i believe they upgrade with either Dhop, or Juedy, OBJ is a long shot for a couple reasons.
I hope they are out on DHop. To give up a pick for a 31 year old WR with a big contract doesn’t make much sense to me. If they were SB contenders this year and WR away then I could see it, but we are rebuilding and should look to get younger and more explosive at WR 1.

We should pump the brakes for now and get some linebackers , safeties and cornerbacks. Floor could be average but needs ones with high ceiling .

I’d rather have Deandre Hopkins all day, especially if they can get him for a later round pick because Arizona is simply looking for a salary dump.

Absolutely nobody is going to pay OBJ what he thinks he can get. Once the reality of the free market smacks him in the face he’ll sign for an incentive laden deal or one year show me deal.

Hopkins and OBJ are not out of the realm of possibility. The Pats aren’t going to trade a first for Juedy and then pay him a massive contract… it’s never going to happen so forget it. If Denver takes a later round pick possibly…

Quite frankly I don't think Bourne is an unknown at all.

I'm throwing last year out. As far as i'm concerned the offense and the coaching was a complete joke.

In a professional NFL offense (see with an actual OC), from 2018 to 2021 he averages about 50 catches for 600yds 4TDs and catches 70% of the balls thrown to him a year.

He is not a WR1 but is a solid WR3.

What I don't know is if there are some lingering issues between the team and he which are unrepairable, and means i'd be better to just part ways.

It's just too bad. I really liked what he did in 2021.

I agree with this. Still, I wouldn't cry if they landed DHop. I'd prefer to see Jeudy or some other young potential ONE come in and be here for several years, but the Pats aren't contending this year (I never say never, but the schedule is brutal and the gap looks like a grand canyon).

I like what they're doing in a terrible FA market, and am glad that they'll move on from mistakes, both in coaching choices and in some previously-acquired players.
They'll be a better team this year, though they might have a worse record. They are very much set up for 2024 and beyond, however, QB depending.

Jeudy is not that. Some posters are acting like he's Megatron or Jerry friggin' Rice. He ain't.

Assuming Thornton shows improvement I'm fine with the Pats' current crop of WRs with no further FA additions. Maybe add a speed burner project in the draft. Considering two veteran pass-catching tight ends, there should be plenty of options in the passing game.

But the 14th pick would be our highest draft pick since Jerod Mayo in 2010 and Mac Jones in 2021….and that pick is HIGHLY likely our starting LT for the next decade….
According to most of patsfans we're the worst team in the afce so should have no problem scoring #14 next year too...

I'd like Johnston at 14. I am not so sure the Jeudy brings anything different than what they have already. If they were talking about adding CeeDee Lamb or Ja'marr Chase I'd be singing a different tune. Jeudy? Meh. Less expensive version of Juju maybe? Both are 6'1", Juju is a bit heavier. The table below is career per game rushing / receiving. I dunno, I think they signed JuJu so they don't have to give up capital for Jeudy.

I'm pretty concerned that he was getting the cold shoulder from the staff last year.

I'm pretty concerned because it's typically very difficult to work your way out of the doghouse.

My concerns are more along the lines of KC had the chance to pay him and didn't.

In essence he's their Meyers, good enough to keep when on a below-market contract, not good enough to keep at fair market rates.

To stay on topic, IMO Jeudy isn't coming here, DEN is asking for more than BB will pay. Same for DHop.

I'm not too worried about the "doghouse" with Bourne because it was probably Patricia's doghouse. BOB will give him a new shake.

KC may not have wanted to pay him since they have Kadarius Toney on the cheap.

When KC signed Mahomes to his new massive contract, they pushed his cap debt out of the first two years and into the future. In other words, his cap didn't start affecting them until last season, it only gets bigger this season and going forward.

They're not in a position to spend wildly, they traded Tyreek for a boatload of picks... smart. They didn't fold when Orlando Brown tried to play chicken with them, they signed someone just as good for slightly less... then Brown's market fell out from underneath his feet and he signed for what he could.

The Chiefs didn't sign Juju because they're looking for guys like Sky Moore and Toney, talented guys on rookie deals who cost pennies.

Juju is better than Meyers, he's faster, he's an upgrade.

I think Jeudy has way more upside then JuJu. Jeudy has played with a dumpster fire offence since he's been in the league while JuJu has had Big Ben and Mahomes throwing to him and had Antonio Brown and Travis Kelce taking focus off him. After Brown left the Steelers and JuJu was the number 1 he was very mediocre.

Strange was never on the edge, even in college. Onwenu is the same, always a right guard at Michigan and ended up at right guard with the Pats. Remember the calls on PatsFans for Onwenu to RT? Some guys are tackles and some guys are guards. Strange and Onwenu are guards. I cannot tell you why, but that is where they are comfortable and lots of college and professional coaches agree that is where they belong. Not sure why people on PatsFans want Onwenu at RT and Strange at LT when all the evidence is against these moves .
Possibly too much Koolaid drinking can lead to hallucinations on where players can line up!

Agreed Hopkins not worth it at this stage of career…..at least with the contract/cash we would have to assume….Jeudy would be better

And Mahomes can turn rocks into shiny american diamonds. As long as he has Kelce , the others will draw only cb2 or cb3 attention and mahomes feasts on them.

I want to give credit to their defensive coordinator for doing more with less .

Let's see the impact of mahomes salary on chiefs from this year. They might need to tag or extend Humphrey who is gonna command a ransom .

We have very few vet minimum players who contribute . I think that's where we are not able to get the studs. Everyone is a middle tier and that adds up and eats cap space

I'd rather spend a first-round pick on a receiver than a trade, if they want a second and next year's third, maybe. This year's draft is going to be interesting, that's for sure.

We all know our track record when it comes to picking WR's in the draft and I am not sure that will change unless Bill decides to leave the drafting completely up to Bob . I would rather they get a true 1WR in free agency of through a trade, someone that is a known commodity !

I commend them for having the stones to move on from Tyreek and collect a ransom in draft picks. That takes stones. And I agree about Steve Spags the defensive coordinator doing a great job there. The defense gets the short end of the stick financially and he creates opportunistic defenses that force turnovers. Andy Reid and co are smart, maybe they won’t hit the skids like the Rams did, especially if they draft well.
