Pagano: "Andrew Luck is the best QB in the NFL"

For Pagano to say Andrew Luck is the best QB in the NFL is an admission of his failure to put in the right supporting cast or to design an offense focusing on his strengths..

31 TD's and 13 Int and 41 sacks tells us what?? An immobile QB, lousy play design or a crappy O line??

No that's their GMS fault. Take a look at his draft history. The guy is inept. That lack of talent there is not paganis fault

Fighting Irish, I think you've argued your point here pretty well about Luck. The personnel group around him is awful.

But to have seen Pagano as a good head coach up until this year is a bad case of rose colored glasses. The game planning and game management have been as bad as the personnel decisions.

How can they be good when they have one of the worst rosters in the league?

Do you think the Colts would be 8-8 with Tom Brady as their QB?

He couldn't help their defense but he would have them in the playoffs.

The Pats have gone to a Superbowl with a bad defense.

No, that's Tom Brady, what I'm telling you is that the Colts would be horrible without luck

Fact: Colts are 6-3 in the 9 games that Andrew Luck hasn't started (in his career).

P.S. They played a *backup* QB in those games.

Perception meet reality.

The Colts offensive line is a steaming pile of ****. Brady's a better QB than Luck but, give him the Colts' play calling and down field looking approach to passing, and Tom would be running for his life behind that 5 headed sieve.

If you're playing offense wrong, that's one thing. Bad planning by coaches can't be helped. But Brady would make that offensive line look 100% better with the way he plays.

Pagano is a bad coach but he hasn't necessarily had the talent to win with either

SSS

Edit: I will admit luck was bad when he played last year. Did not play well

No I agree. And I've actually been a pagano sympathist. But he's been bad this year. But grigson hasn't done anything to help him. Not like the guys going 8-8 with chargers type talent

Your comparing him to the greatest of all time. Look how Matt Ryan and stafford have done with bad talent around them. They weren't so good. Wilson hasn't been so good. Throw in the fact that Belichick at worst is a top 5 head coach all time. There aren't a lot of guys that have played with bad talent. Peyton manning never did. Brady has turned no names into good players. Part of that is coaching too. But I'm not arguing he's as good as Brady. I'm arguing he's every bit as good as Matt Ryan, who's numbers greatly improved behind the best offensive line he's had since 2012

Edit: I said those guys weren't so good, I mis spoke a little. They weren't great, they weren't bad either. me saying they weren't good wasn't implying they were bad

The pats gameplan is usually to get the ball put quick and Brady is the best at that. The Colts are a much different more vertical offense

Tom Brady in 2013 with an okay and rookie receivers went 12-4. Didn't post great stats. Double digit INTs too. Pulled a lot of game out of his ass. Broncos and saints come to mind. Maybe more. GOAT

With the best QB in the NFL* per Chuck Pagano.

Hmmmm, maybe YOU are the problem Chuck...

He's certainly part of it. We all know his statement about luck being the best is wrong. I just don't like the hate luck gets on this board. I don't think it's fair

right next to the practice squad can we start a room called 'stupid ****'?

lol x 1,000

Didn't see this posted on here, but apologies if it already was. I think this is worthy of its own thread for obvious reasons. The article is made better by the first one-line comment on PFT: "He is in the top 30 for sure!" which pretty much sums up the hilarity and face-palms that follow.

Chuck Pagano: I think Andrew Luck is the best QB in the NFL

It's just a vote of confidence from a HC to his QB. I doubt Pagano, Luck, or Luck's mother truly believe he's the best QB in the NFL.

When you tell yourself your the best, I would imagine it would be difficult to motivate yourself to get better

Excellent point.

I've noticed that Belichick's teams always get better during the season. Guys on the other side who overhype and overrate their own players to the press - Rex Ryan comes to mind - almost always get worse as the season goes on. Take a guy like Mark Sanchez, who Ryan praised excessively to build his confidence, or numerous other players from those Jets teams.

In addition to the point you made, it also riles up the other team when comments like those are made, and you hear all the time about teams rallying around some self-inflated egos on the other side. That's why Belichick is always absurdly effusive in his praise, so that there are no slights, and for the reason you mentioned...it's hard to play with an edge when you are resting on your laurels at the top. I don't recall Belichick telling the media that any of his players are the greatest - with the exception of Brady - who on a single occasion he said he wouldn't want any other quarterback, though he typically just says "he's a good player" just like when he talks about everyone else.

I think someone calling you the best and calling yourself the best is way different though. Luck doesn't strike me as the guy to think or call himself the best. He strikes me as more of a guy who's always looking to get better. Flacco stays very average and never gets better, maybe his mentality is that he's the best

Number of times BB said TB12 was the best - 0
Number of times Bill Walsh said Joe Cool was the best - 0
Number of times Chuck Noll said Terry B was the best- 0
Number of times Vince Lombardi said Bart Starr was the best- 0
Number of times Tom Landry said Roger Staubach was the best - 0

If he thinks Luck has a confidence problem and needs some affirmation that he is a elite QB, Indy will never win anything.

They are cooked forever.

Apologies if this has already been mention in this thread:

Hey Irksay, please please please keep Chuckles & Grigson…forevah!
