Didn't see this posted on here, but apologies if it already was. I think this is worthy of its own thread for obvious reasons. The article is made better by the first one-line comment on PFT: "He is in the top 30 for sure!" which pretty much sums up the hilarity and face-palms that follow.

Chuck Pagano: I think Andrew Luck is the best QB in the NFL

Ummm...

....what?

If I was starting a franchise. Luck would easily be in the top 5 list of guys I would want to start with

Nothing wrong with a coach liking his player and complimenting him to the press. Of course, in this case, it also displays a worrying disconnect from reality, but since it's the Colts, I couldn't be happier.

The guy has nothing around him and puts up big numbers. The roster is in the bottom 3rd in the league and they go 8-8. 31 TD and 13 INT this year, that's not bad. He's obviously not the best in the league but I think his talent is undeniable

Look how average Wilson has looked with poor offensive talent around him

Chuck Pagano is the gift that keeps on giving.

Luck is 27 and while still fairly young, it's not like he is still a really young, developing QB, and I think we've seen much of his upside. The following guys all appear to have a lot of productive years remaining, and I think enough to meet the criteria where you could start a franchise with them and not feel shorted based on their age:

Aaron Rodgers (33)
Matt Ryan (31)
Joe Flacco (31)
Andy Dalton (29)
Russell Wilson (28)
Kirk Cousins (28)
Matt Stafford (28)
Cam Newton (27)
Derek Carr (25)
Marcus Mariota (23)
Dak Prescott (23)
Jameis Winston (22)

I'm not saying Luck isn't in the top 5, so your statement isn't far-fetched, just that (a) it doesn't dismiss the overall craziness of Pagano's opinion, and (b) there are a lot of players that are still fairly young and doing well in a franchise QB role, while Luck has definitely not separated from the pack in any way, coaching and supporting cast aside, just watching his decision-making and overall play, he is far from where we thought he'd be at this point in his career.

Of course he would say that. A coach of any top 15 QB would say that...part of the job.

Pagano is a hypocrite.

First he says there are no participation trophies in life. OK thats fine.

But then he turns around and pumps the tires of his QB who just went 8-8?

What is this U-14 soccer?

If BB was HC of the Colts I think he'd say this during the end of year presser.

"I think Andrew had some good moments this year but had some not so good plays that I'm sure he'd take back. I'm sure he'll work hard this offseason, improve his game. Get better at the things he knows he needs to get better at which is the same as everyone else on the team. Our year was not good enough by any standard and we'll all work to getting better and competing hard in 2017."

He threw for 31 touchdowns and 13 INTs. On a team with a bad defense and a bad offensive line. And average weapons at best. And went 8-7. Houston is a 12 or 13 or 14 win team with this kid easily

Hey Chuck, Thats Some Good Stuff huh?!

He needs to have his head checked

Are you saying Andrew Luck is the best QB in the NFL?

Stats mean poop for QBs.
