Pagano: "Andrew Luck is the best QB in the NFL"

Wait, didn't Joe Flacco say that he was the best quarterback in the NFL? And didn't the Ravens pay him the highest salary of any QB? Who is it, Luck or Flacco?

Luck is a good QB, nothing more or less than that.

Well then in his own words he's a ****ing terrible coach. Because if you have the best QB in the league and you can't finish .500 in the NFL's worst division, you must be terrible.

Pagano really dug himself a hole there.

Luck is 27 and while still fairly young, it's not like he is still a really young, developing QB, and I think we've seen much of his upside. The following guys all appear to have a lot of productive years remaining, and I think enough to meet the criteria where you could start a franchise with them and not feel shorted based on their age:

Aaron Rodgers (33)
Matt Ryan (31)
Joe Flacco (31)
Andy Dalton (29)
Russell Wilson (28)
Kirk Cousins (28)
Matt Stafford (28)
Cam Newton (27)
Derek Carr (25)
Marcus Mariota (23)
Dak Prescott (23)
Jameis Winston (22)

I'm not saying Luck isn't in the top 5, so your statement isn't far-fetched, just that (a) it doesn't dismiss the overall craziness of Pagano's opinion, and (b) there are a lot of players that are still fairly young and doing well in a franchise QB role, while Luck has definitely not separated from the pack in any way, coaching and supporting cast aside, just watching his decision-making and overall play, he is far from where we thought he'd be at this point in his career.

I would take QB's in this order, taking age into the equation

1.) Russel Wilson
2.) Derek Carr
3.) Aaron Rodgers he is getting old though, does he have 5 elite years left? Remember not everyone is TB12.

I would probably put Matt Ryan #4.. and I have no idea after that.

I hate Cam Newton.. he might belong on the list but I wouldn't want him the QB of my team.

Dak is promising but I have no idea if he is just a lucky guy with the best o line in football. Either way he seems pretty damn good.

Mariota and Winston are promising.. but I havent seen enough.

How can they be good when they have one of the worst rosters in the league?

Nonsense. There are better rosters. There are worse rosters.

They lost to HOU twice, JAX, DET at home and a QB-less Raiders team.

Instead the win every other game when they should have gone 10-6 or maybe 11-5.

Luck is too erratic and their coach is abysmal. He keeps nothing at an even keel. Every day is life and death

There roster is in the bottom 3rd of the league, are you going to disagree with that? Pretty sure Carr played when Oakland played them. And luck missed 1 game and they lost. Why should they have gone 10-6 or 11-5? What are you basing that off of

You you'll take Russell wilson over Andrew luck when this year Wilson in a bad division had a bad year. The talent dropped around Wilson and he couldn't carry them. Like luck does With indy

[This is where I'd put the padded room picture if I felt like Pagano was worth the effort]

You can win with that roster. Is is a great roster? Hell no.

Pick any 3 or 4 of the games I called out. They should have won 2 maybe 3.

I think OAK was very beatable with Carr and the banged up pinkie. Luck threw 2 picks vs a bad D.

They should have beaten JAX and they should have beaten one of the HOU games.

That gets them to 10-6.

I don't know what we are debating about?

35 offensive lines. I can't expect anyone to win with 35 different offensive lines, not when games are won and lost in that area of the field

Seattle was 1 game away from #2 seed in the NFC. Russel had no offensive line and can make something out of nothing.

I would take Russel over Luck.

1 Wilson
2 Carr
3 Rodgers
4 Luck
5 Ryan

Any of those 5 would be fine for a 5 year deal. And honestly putting Luck over Ryan is basically an age thing. I am not sure Andrew is as good as everyone thought. He also gets hurt alot.

Making a comment like this seems to be an indirect indictment of Grigson... Because how do you have the "best QB in the NFL" but can't even post a winning record? That either means the rest of your roster is dog s*** or your coaching is dog s***... Or both.

They should renegotiate Luck's contract and give him a raise. Those once in a generation players need to be locked up long term,

The rest of their roster is dog ****. Not saying luck is the best because he's not, but 35 different offensive lines behind the guy. Btw they were 8th in scoring and 22nd in scoring allowed

Andrew Luck is a top 10 quarterback who is single handedly keeping Pagano employed whilst Pagano and Grigson hold back his career, no more or no less.

I personally think Luck is better than Wilson and Newton and the new generation but he should be better than he is, 31 TDs 13 INTs 96 QB rating is a nice season but i feel like his talent is better than that.

Luck has no offensive line and outplayed Russell this year.

Thats a factor but not calling the right protections at the LoS is as well.

Luck is still stagnating in this area.

I remember a play vs HOU. He had a 20 grouping and HOU had all kinds of rushers coming. What does luck do? He send them. Idiotic.
