But agreed the name is pretty lazy.

People are criticizing the name, but the League is chock full of names which we would ridicule if they were created today but just accept since they were created 80 years ago.

Imagine there was no team in Cleveland and they created an expansion there, and the ownership group announced they were going to name the team "The Browns" and - get this - have a helmet without a logo. They would be ridiculed mercilessly on all sides. But since we have all known "The Cleveland Browns" for the past 75 years (barring their hiatus in the late 90's), it is just accepted.

It was the most NFL thing ever to hold a contest where the fans picked the name but then the results were ignored, especially since the name the fans selected was far superior to the one selected to not offend anyone anytime.

I read a bunch of posts saying they should have just kept WFT as the name. It did have a "F U Roger" vibe to it so I like that idea.
