Adam’s reportedly on his way out too. Pats should jump on that

Kraft had Drew Bledsoe long before he had Tom Brady. I understand a lot of the fan base didn't know much about the Patriots prior to 2001, but you missed a lot of exciting and competitive football. Good owners trust and do the right things to help their head coach, and show patience and restraint when it's needed. Kraft learned that early on and didn't repeat that error.

But with all due respect, you're way behind the eight ball on this one. Kraft is one of the best owners in sports and of all time, and it has more to do with his contributions to the organization, this region, and the league, than the six Super Bowls they've won.

I'll say this for his position: We know that elite QBs trump elite coaches overall, at least when it comes to SB wins.

But to argue that the owner v. QB is clearly in favor of the QB is another animal entirely.

SF won without Montana a/k/a with different QBs.
Oakland won with different QBs
Washington won with different QBs
Ravens won with a pair of "ehh" QBs in different decades
Giants won with multiple different QBs

Now, I will say that the importance of the QB position has never been more important than it is today, and I will note that recent times have given us more than one QB who's won a Super Bowl on different teams (with different coaches and owners), but that's been a historical rarity.

When we look at NFL history, we see that teams can win with bad owners, bad HCs, bad GMs, and/or bad QBs. But these are exceptions that usually win because the weakness is offset somewhere else, and they are rarely sustainable situations. It usually takes some strong combination of owner/GM/HC/QB to win (we used to be able to sort of substitute a running game for the QB, but those days are at least mostly gone). I think it would be interesting to have someone dive into the relative importance of the 4 spots using various metrics and perspectives, because we might be able to find legitimate reasons to vary the ratings of how important they are.

But I'm not going to be the guy making that dive, because to do it right would take a ****load of time and data surfing.

McDaniels is getting torched on SM. Looks like it was Davis that wanted to move on from Carr. This is about the $$ but fans are blaming Josh.

People put way too much stock in owners, Irsay with Peyton Manning was fine, Kraft without Brady looks like every other putz.

As long as the owner isn't cheap and picking players in the draft a good quarterback will make any owner look good, being a drunken idiot who rambles on twitter doesn't effect the football team as much as people like to make out, it sounds like Kraft Patriot way propaganda that was put out there that's being exposed by the week.

Kraft was a great owner because he had Tom Brady
Well Kraft does wear custom platform Air Force Ones as his signature. Apparently that makes him cool.

Carr, wasn’t worth what he was going to be paid next year. The Raiders should really be trying to get the best pick possible at this point.

My only issue with the move is how it effects Adams. From the video posted earlier it effects him poorly.

I can’t see the Pats trading Mac to the Raiders unless they recouped the first they used to draft Mac. The raiders would be insane to pay that much.
The problem with that: they can't trade him until those guarantees take effect, and if they can't find a partner, they're on the hook for $40M.

San Francisco is a great fit, but who knows what direction they’ll go in with Purdy.

People are writing Miami off, but if the Dolphins move on from Tua for obvious reasons, he would be pretty good there. But of course, Buffalo and Josh Allen would likely stand in the way of a division title.
I can see Tennessee

I mean I'm sure Kraft has his input on free agency contracts though...
Could he say to Belichick "if you sign X, you're fired"? Sure. And any owner can do that.

My point is that there is no requirement that an owner sign off on contracts, but AFAIK there is one on trades.

Chandler Jones and Denzel Perryman are going on the IR, too. So look for other veterans to ride pine in a Raiders effort to lose games and get higher on the draft board a/k/a take a look at some young players.
Isn't losing games what many fans clamor for when their teams are eliminated from the playoffs? I've seen it here plenty.

Our dog woke me up early today and a couldn't get back to sleep so I put on the radio. I heard an interesting take on the benching of Carr from the CIC (clown in charge) who's opinion was that it would destroy the Raiders team to sit him. He also talked of how sitting Carr would threaten their "just win baby" and "commitment to excellence" mottos. Apparently the CIC hasn't been paying attention for many years. Those credos are long gone. Had I decided to call in I would have let him know of the motto that George Atkinson proudly claimed belonged to the Raiders, "if you aint cheatin you aint tryin."

Then the CIC got into what he determines are legendary teams. He named the Raiders, Cowboys and Packers but didn't feel that the Pats are worthy of that title. I can understand that label for the Packers. They've been around for many more years and dominated in the 60's. But the Pats have twice as many titles as Chokeland and one more than Dallas plus many more SB appearances than both.

But the best I saved for last. It's last because I couldn't listen to any more and turned off the radio. A caller from the Tampa Bay area called in, let's call him the CCI (clown calling in), and his words were "Brady is the TB QB but he's not mine." I guess the CCI forgot that Brady rescued his pathetic team from extinction less than two years ago. And that's when both of them declared that they'd rather have Joe Montana.

When will it ever end?

bro Mcdaniels killing the raiders.
He will never get another HC job after this.
I don't get what he's doing wrong. His team is out of the playoffs and he wants to get a look at his other QB in a game situation. I've seen fans here clamor for the backup QB in the same situation, both to get a look at him and get a better draft pick (ugh). There may also be some contractual reasons.

I didn’t say there was.

Josh took a playoff team and it got worse with better talent (kinda sounds like the Patriots this year!)

Now maybe they "upgrade" on carr. But he's a capable NFL QB. If they downgrade next year. Lose Adams and McDaniels has another losing season I think he's done coaching there.

Like everyone is happy to dump carr. But what's the alternative? People like a Jimmy G is basically a lateral move.

We're assuming that Josh is moving on from Carr? Maybe he just wants to see Stidham or is going for a better draft pick (something I hate).

As for the Pats/LV comparison, it's a very good one.

I'm somewhere in the middle on Mac Jones. I think with a good OL and some decent receivers he could be good. But I also think at this point a change of scenary might do him some good. If Bill could swindle the Raiders first rounder from them for say Mac and a second, then we use our two first on tackles and find a way to get back into the back of the first or top of the second to take Hendon Hooker who would have been a top 5 pick if not the injury I would be down for that.

Kraft would hear Hooker and sign off on it instantly.

I'm kinda in the same boat w/ Mac.

I'm not sold on him but BB didn't do him any favors with a thin o-line, tweaking the offense and supporting him with the worst grouping of OC/QB coaches in the league.

If Mac still sucks with BOB next year and an improved o-line then I think we can safely say it didn't work out.

Look, Carr will have a market, and I'm afraid to say the Pats look like candidates for his services.

JimmyG will be the top QB in free agency, I know there's Brady but it seems he's on to specific situations (49ers, Miami).

If Mac doesn't become our guy, and the Pats keep being good enough to not suck for a top 10 pick, I don't know but I don't like the possibility of they becoming Redskins/Colts looking for failed vets with some good moments in the past with hopes to make them look good again but what else could you do without a franchise qb?

Belichick just got a good look at Carr.

I'm sure he saw what I saw. The worst starting QB in the NFL not named Zach Wilson.

I could not believe how bad Carr was against the Patriots. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch the 2nd half, and pay attention to all the bad reads). So I watched them play the Steelers. He was so ridiculously bad, it defies belief.

He is doing his own thing out there, never throwing to open guys, chucking the ball downfield (inaccurately) into double coverage. He was ridiculously bad against us, but completing 50% of your throws and 3 INTs against the Steelers?
