OT: Skippy Might Start Stid - EDIT Carr Benched, Stidham will start

Yeah, this seems to override all the positives. I can't see Brady putting himself in that situation where he's probably playing for a WC spot.

San Francisco is a great fit, but who knows what direction they’ll go in with Purdy.

People are writing Miami off, but if the Dolphins move on from Tua for obvious reasons, he would be pretty good there. But of course, Buffalo and Josh Allen would likely stand in the way of a division title.

I wonder if Josh and Bill have already discussed a Mac Jones trade for 2023. The Raiders would have a pretty sizeable amount of cap space if they released Carr and replaced him with Mac on a rookie deal. Josh clearly wants a guy who is familiar with and can be productive in his offense.
Obviously Brady. I think Adams would demand a trade if they dumped Carr for Mac... that's a lateral move at best but really Mac is probably a downgrade.

Well Carr officially benched

This can only mean Carr's getting cut after the season ends.

This puts a lot more pressure on Buffalo to beat Cincinnati now. They have to win the next two to hold onto the #1 seed because KC is going to crush Denver/Wilson and Las Vegas/Stidham. Carr's not playing well but his per-game ceiling is capable of upsetting KC. Stidham, forget it.

So they would have to release carr before the Super Bowl to avoid paying him the 32 mill for next year? Im not sure im understanding that part correctly .
Found info on your question
Carr has a $32.9 million salary for 2023, which was guaranteed for injury at the time of signing. It, along with $7.5 million in 2024 salary currently guaranteed for injury, becomes fully guaranteed on the third day of the 2023 waiver period.

The waiver period begins after the Super Bowl. If the Raiders are going to cut Carr — and escape that $40.4 million liability — they’ll have a narrow window in which to act.

Chandler Jones and Denzel Perryman are going on the IR, too. So look for other veterans to ride pine in a Raiders effort to lose games and get higher on the draft board a/k/a take a look at some young players.

Holy smokes, talk about the worst possible matchup for a guy to finally get his shot. Could get ugly fast.

This is a good point...

This I don't think matters because they can cut Carr even if he gets injured...
Benching Carr is because they are going to cut him and do not want him to get injured between now and then.

The elephant in the room is Carr’s contract. He has $40.4 million in guarantees that become fully vested if he’s unable to pass a physical before the third day of the 2023 waiver period, when that money becomes fully guaranteed. So, benching Carr now ensures he’ll be healthy enough to be released before the guarantees convert from injury only.

Good point by you then.

Josh not taking the Colts job is looking moronic, it doesn't matter how bad the Colts suck your rebuild chances are massively more do-able in the AFC South compared to the AFC West.

Someone can take over the Colts job draft a QB and win that division with 9 wins next year, aslong as Mahomes and Andy Reid are there the Chiefs are winning 12 games and then you have Herbert who could get a coaching upgrade at any point.

Right now you can be the 8th or 9th best team in the AFC and win the AFC South.

It does matter who bad the Colts suck. It especially matters how bad the Colts owner sucks.

You don't need to win a division to win the Super Bowl. You just need to get into the playoffs.

People put way too much stock in owners, Irsay with Peyton Manning was fine, Kraft without Brady looks like every other putz.

As long as the owner isn't cheap and picking players in the draft a good quarterback will make any owner look good, being a drunken idiot who rambles on twitter doesn't effect the football team as much as people like to make out, it sounds like Kraft Patriot way propaganda that was put out there that's being exposed by the week.

Kraft was a great owner because he had Tom Brady

If you haven't figured out the importance of ownership by now, you probably never will.

Kraft was a great owner because he had Tom Brady

Kraft turned around a moribund franchise, was able to bring in quality coaching, and got the team to a Super Bowl. And he did all of the long before the coming of Tom Brady.

Not nearly important as quarterbacks, it's been proven.

Would you rather have Mark Davis/Jim Irsay/ The Spanos as your owner and Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback or Kraft/Mac?

Bad owners win Super Bowls, bad quarterbacks don't in the modern era unless they're going against Matt Patricia.

Josh was seen escorting Carr out of the building.

Kraft had Drew Bledsoe long before he had Tom Brady. I understand a lot of the fan base didn't know much about the Patriots prior to 2001, but you missed a lot of exciting and competitive football. Good owners trust and do the right things to help their head coach, and show patience and restraint when it's needed. Kraft learned that early on and didn't repeat that error.

But with all due respect, you're way behind the eight ball on this one. Kraft is one of the best owners in sports and of all time, and it has more to do with his contributions to the organization, this region, and the league, than the six Super Bowls they've won.

Good owners pick the right GM, and the right GM picks the right HC and players. The HC in turn coaches the players. It's a trickle down effect. You pick a lousy GM, the whole operation falls apart. In addition, the owner has to sign off on player contracts.
