Which poorly shows what actually happened. The Jags player was only trying to sell a hold there.
The players are acting like babies too:
Jaguars not happy with discrepancy in penalties
Same ole excuses for this embarrassing loss. Funny how he didn't want a call for the guy pushing all over White then slapping his helmet after that first TD.
Like Colin reaction, a lot truth in his reaction.Colin Cowherd was ripping the Jags this afternoon, calling them sore losers for complaining about the officiating. He also is of the strong opinion that the DPIs were legit and questioned the fumble (I realize he's a Patriot fan).
Yeah, I did not understand why they were complaining about the whistle there. Jack (?) is essentially in a pile on the ground with Lewis and rolls away from him with the ball. How is he not down there? Not just that, but according to Football Zebra refs a defender who takes the ball from a player on the ground is essentially deemed down by contact unless the defender is on his feet when taking the ball.
OMG. I had the same discussion, debate today, with a few people.Regarding the Lewis fumble... why does everyone seem to be treating the situation like it was not a catch, then lose control and not maintaining thoughout the ground. IMO the refs messed up twice. Firstly Lewis had control of the football clasped against his thigh, even though he originally lost it, he regained control (ask our fav WR Tyree about what constitutes control of the football) they had gone past whether it was a catch or not, meaning if the fumble happened earlier then you say the call was correct. The moment Lewis had part of his body down the play was over. Secondly the whistle 100% saved our ass and should not have been blown. Still the play should of not got to that point.

That's the point though, 'once he had clear possession' is not the standard. If he's touched down at any point in the attempt to recover, including before he had clear possession, he's down.
Haha! Malik Jackson was one of the guys trying to shove the o-line around after the kneel downs. What a baby! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
If had been Rowe covering Hurns the same way and was penalized, none of these people would be claiming there was a conspiracy. They would think it was clear PI and an easy call.
Of course, if there was no flag, these nuts would think it was the right call when Jacksonville was playing defense, but a huge miscarriage of justice if the Patriots were on defense.
Basically, these folks were looking for any reason to scream "Conspiracy!" unless the Patriots lost.
Like the Steelers' game earlier in the year when all the talk was about the (correct) call on the no-catch in the end zone, and NO ONE was talking about the INCORRECT flag pickup on the first Steelers' TD, when the OL guy was four-to-five yards downfield blocking when Ben still had the ball (and therefore froze the Pats' LB and S, who thought it had to be a run).
Yep, every penalty they were called for was legitimate. Just gonna comment on these two since you didn't see them.Don't remember the Ramsey DPI, but everything else there is inconsequential or obvious.
An illegal shift (didn't catch it, but those are usually spot on)

Ramsey put his arm over Cooks' shoulder and yanked him to the ground before the ball got there.
The illegal shift occurred because the Jaguars rushed up to the line to snap the ball. The previous play was a catch out of bounds that they were worried the Patriots would challenge (it was a good catch, though).
The outcry seems to be about missed calls on the Patriots, but none of the whiners won't or can't point out specific plays. It happened to both teams anyway. Chris Hogan got tackled on a pass attempt in the first half that wasn't flagged, for example.
I can't gif the Hogan play but here's a still picture (2nd quarter, 13:30 remaining). The ball is inside the green box. That one on hogan was blatant and was not called. I was gripping in the gdt about that one. The whiners can only point out one supposed hold the pats supposedly made. It’s not convincing tho.
Anyone got a vid clip of what jags cried about where Amendola head butted a guy? I watched the whole game and can’t see it but they insist he should have been ejected for the hit.
That's sort of beside the point of this thread, though. We'd all be screaming bloody murder in a similar situation, ruling by the book or not. I can understand why Jaguars fans are upset. There are still people on this board who rant about how Manning was in the grasp on the Tyree catch, after all.
