OT: Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs reportedly agree to reworked contract valued at more than $500 million

They're called hypocrites and are very prevalent here.
What's more likely: That he regresses like most mobile guys do in their 30s or that he has a Brady-esque renaissance in the second half of his career?

I'm sure the rest of the league and BB thought Brady was washed too. How did that work out?? Brady is no where close to Mahomes athletically.
Brady got by mostly because of his brain. Mahomes gets by mostly because of his athleticism.

Farve was athletic.

KC fixed the RB problem for 2026.

Favre wasn't nearly as athletic as Mahomes. Favre had scrambling ability, but he didn't rely on his mobility like Mahomes especially when it came to taking off and running. He was athletic for the 1990s and early 2000s, not for 2026. His biggest athletic ability was his cannon arm which doesn't go away as fast with age.

But Favre was not a great player towards the end of his career. He had one great year his second to last year in the league playing mostly in domes, but the four or five years prior to that, he was definitely considerably less than peak Favre.

You know Tom Brady was 31 when he got that ACL Injury right?? You 'all are acting like Mahomes is 40.

As stated, Brady was a pocket passer. But Brady was never an elite athlete even at the QB position. His eliteness came from his mind. He was able to diagnose defense quickly, process the play at incredible speed, know when to step up to buy more time, etc. That is what set Brady apart from the rest. A torn ACL wasn't going to make him football stupid.

Mahomes relies on the speed of his legs to roll out of the pocket and scramble around to avoid pressure. Arguably what makes Mahomes elite is his ability to make throws on the run. He slows down and that part of his game goes away at least to a certain extent.

If Mahomes didn't rely on his athleticism so much, I could see him rivaling Brady in terms of longevity. Unless he can become more of a pocket passer without hurting his play level, that just isn't going to happen.

BTW, as Maye gets into his 30s, he is going to have to revise his game or he won't see 40 playing either. He isn't Mahomes in terms of athleticism, but he does rely on his mobility to extend plays a lot. Credit to McDaniels to work on his pocket presence and making him learn better to step up in the pocket rather than taking off. That will help with Maye's longevity.

The worse part about a Brady Vs mahomes comp is, Patrick keeps taking top dollar while at this point in their careers, mahomes is estimated to have earned 250-300 million alone in his career of sponsorships and endorsements. Thats more than Brady made his entire patriots career from his salary. One loved the game, the other one, not so much. If he has another 4 years like he has had the past 4 years. I see him hanging it up

Were not talking about a huge difference. Farve average approximately 50 rush attempts a season during his hayday.

Mahomes has averaged approximately 60 rush attempts per season with the exception of 2023 where he rushed for 75 attempts. I expect his 2016 rush attempts to decrease with the addition of Walker.

10 more rush attempts over 17 games is a drop in the bucket IMO. Mahomes may show more rush yards, but thats because so many plays give him at least 10 yards plus of uncontested ground.
