OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I agree. Mahomes definitely reminds me of Favre’s play style. I couldn’t get my formula to quantify just how bad Favre’s postseason meltdowns were

With the other guys I just meant the “win a ring early, media thinks you’ll win multiple, then don’t win again.” I think people also forget Mahomes wasn’t good in the win against the 49ers either. Brady has 9 Super Bowl games better than that one.

Mahomes threw 2 picks in his one super bowl win. If the niners don’t leave Tyreek Hill wide open on 3rd and 15 in the 4th quarter he likely loses.

The Bills really blew a golden opportunity this year. I think they would have beaten the Bengals. I also think, from just an entertainment perspective, a Rams-Bills Super Bowl would be nearly perfect. Probably a pick em.
I hope the Bengals win, but their offensive line is so bad. It may look like the 2007 Giants and 2015 Broncos games.

They will to continue to change the rules to make this type of volatile QB play work and generate ratings. What they have essentially done is dumb down the QB position to create parity. It's easier to find good athletes who can force the defense to commit a defender to them and open up throwing lanes than to teach immobile guys how to shred man coverage. Runs, scrambles and defenses being scared to death to touch the QB. At least Allen has the balls to run into defenders even though it's ill advised.

Yup. Brady's Super Bowl passer ratings over 80: 9/10 Mahomes Super Bowl passer ratings over 80: 0/2

Favre is the best comparison. Brees wasn’t capable of going off script, and Wilson isn’t capable of using a script. Favre lost his goddamned mind in the postseason.

He played in two overtime games in the postseason. First one (4th and 26 game against Eagles), he got the ball after a punt and on his first pass threw up a ridiculous interception. Second one (2007 vs Giants), he got the ball first and threw a horrible interception...people still comment on that play, as two guys were wide open.

The 2009 NFCCG against the Vikings was even worse. In field goal territory, tie game, cross body throw over the middle of the field that got picked.

Not joking when I say I struggle in my personal rankings to put Favre in the top 25.
Favre's INT vs the Giants in 2007 cost us a 19-0 season. No way that Favre beats the Pats in the SB

I'd like to see the Bucs contend because I winter in Tampa and they're on TV. Pre-Covid I'd go to bars to catch Pats games and had the opportunity maybe to catch a Bucs game at home on TV. Bucs sucked so I didn't watch. I plan to resume this Pats bar hoping next winter and would like an occasional Bucs game worth watching post Brady. But I doubt they'll contend anytime soon without Tom and the retinue he attracted.
All I got out of this is that you're a barfly. Cheers.

I mean as I hope I’ve made clear over the last two years is that I was never a Bucs fans, I just wanted the best for Brady now that he was somehow else. So honestly for the sake of my Brady fanboy I now kind of want the Bucs to collapse because it’ll make the last two years look more impressive since people will go “wow, Brady was the only thing holding that pile of trash together.”

I think the Bucs are going to collapse. Much depends on what they decide to do at QB but no QB will ever run Arians system as efficiently as Brady did.

I don't want them to collapse and I'll look at results but I won't really be watching games. I guess I'm not as bitter as you guys lol.

Not sure if you live in MA but we saw pretty much every Tampa game the last 2 years. That is over for sure. LOL

Arians likes big armed pocket QBs and likes to have multiple talented receivers. So they'll still score points. The defense isn't half bad either. The Bucs won't collapse nor do I want them to. They were good to Brady and Gronk. I've grown to like Evans especially when he was the last man standing and finally connecting well with Brady.

If Bucs didn't have so many freaking injuries they probably would have been 16-1 or 16-2 and in the SB. Their 13-4 record was an at worse record.

With the downgrade in QB next season. They'll probably be 9-8 at worse to 12-5 at best. That is as long as they don't have so many injuries again.

I am not rooting for a collapse either but their coaching is subpar which is why I see a pretty significant drop off. I also think they are going to lose a bunch of players on top and they have Brady's dead cap hit too.

2022 season. Mahomes, Kelce, Hill cap hit is 36, 9, and 20 mil. That is 33% of cap if it is 200 mil.

2023 season. Cap hit is 47, 15, and est 20 (for Hill if back). That is 37%of cap if it is 220 mil.

Don't think Mahmoes next 4 years will be good as his first 4.
