This topic always gets me to re-think. Sometimes that's great. Sometimes it's a pain in the ass. But, rather than hash it out in my brain, I thought I'd just toss out a bit of a ranking game, just based upon who's gotten in relatively recently. So I thought I'd toss out the group starting with the class of 1990, to see if anyone wants to try slotting Eli, Roethlisberger, Brees, Rogers, Rivers, and any other that I might have missed (If you don't have Brady at #1 among this group, you don't really deserve a vote, so I'm not bothering to include him, but maybe you want to argue about Wilson or someone else). The list will be somewhat long but not overmuch, and, anyway, welcome to the offseason, right? We don’t really disagree on much. I guess Ben would be “first ballot” in my book as well, as I think a player is either worthy or not worthy, and the first ballot stuff is nonsense. But I meant by that I think he’s a closer to the “not Hall worthy” line than has been the general thinking. He’s worthy, but on list of Hall QBs would be ranked well below the midpoint, which usually leads to at least a healthy discussion.
I think Eli is simply an outlier. It isn’t a question of where he ranks among his peers. It’s a question of how much weight you put on the two championships and two historically clutch (or lucky) drives. He’s a .500 QB with an 0-4 playoff record, if you remove those eight games. In those eight games, there’s a large element of luck as the offense wasn’t great either. That’s not to say he isn’t clutch or doesn’t belong. It’s just a strange situation.
Rivers is the big question, I think. I don’t know if being top 10 all-time in a bunch of counting stats is really enough. We’re going to see guys fly past him as the years go on. He really is a case of “Hall of Very Good.” How much better/more worthy is Rivers than Ryan? Stafford could pass him very quickly. Things could look different in a few years when you compare him to other guys who have caught up to him in longevity.
I'm just saying due to the the projection of this game being 60/40 49er fans. I didn't pay attention in the Cardinals game so you could be rightI used to bank on that BUT their playoff game against the Cards was pretty crazy. There wasn’t a Cards fan in the house and it was loud. Obviously Super Bowl tickets work differently but you really think the LA scene wouldn’t be all over every possible ticket?
Ben defied the TB12 Method in favor of the “Throw Some Ice On It” method his whole career, and ended up an all-time-great with 6 Pro-Bowls and 2 Super Bowls. There’s more than one way to bake a cake!

I left Benny Friedman out, because I'm not sure how many really know about him, but people are obviously welcome to add him to the mix.
Can't put everyone in the Hof. In 5-10 years, Rivers stats will be unremarkable and will be passed by the like of Stafford, Ryan, and Wilson. None of them should go to HOF.I've got Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, and Rodgers as first ballot locks. Roethlisberger was clearly QB3, behind Brady and Peyton, but that's not really anything to be keeping him out of the HOF over, IMO. To me, the battle is over Rivers and Eli. If one gets in, you can't really justify keeping the other out. Rivers was clearly the better overall QB, but Eli had those two SB-winning runs.
But that's just my $.02
I've thought about this the other day but look how great Bradys been if you put it in perspective. Since 2003 the top 3 Qbs for each season based on MVP voting and Pro bowl votesManning's SB runs mean something and he should go in just like JE11 should go in. Rivers and Stafford have done nothing. Ryan has an MVP and a Superbowl appearance. Being the best in the league for at least a season should be a mandatory unless you have godlike moments in the playoffs.
As opposed to the collection of snorts and mumbles we get from Bill?Lmao he is a master at giving us tons of words without any real clue as to what he ultimately means.
It's still a good ol' boys network. It's just that the boys have gotten younger. It is amazing how many assistant coaches have gotten HC jobs because of Brady - Weiss, Crennel, Mangini, Flores, Patricia, McDaniels, Bill O'Brien and now Leftwich (LOL) and most likely Bowles too although at least Bowles was a HC before.
IMO Brady's kids see their dad more often than the average working stiff. I really don't get where this (woe-is-me) attitude about NYFLers comes from.Yeah they played that part of the interview on the Curran podcast and I didn’t find that concerning at all. Of course Gisele is worried. She probably was for the last 15 years. I took that part like Brady will be focused on the family side during the offseason. He was fully commited to football the last 6 month and now he will be fully committed to his family.
i thought Curran made a good points I thought. Brady children are getting older so they need their dad all day at home?
I wonder if Captain Comeback is going to want to get his competitive juices flowing and join the AFCW where he can compete regularly with Mahomes, Herbert and Carr. Aaron will want to show them who's boss.I think Rodgers is 60/40 to retire.
Lions, Vikings and Bears... oh my!Sure but he won't be playing the Lions, Bears and Vikings.
The weakness of the AFCE is a myth. There's a link here somewhere to a thread that disputes that myth....do you recall like 15 years of the AFC East? I think we did fine bearing those bums up.
In contrast Bill tried to entice Tom with a used Ford-150 that needed a tune-up. It didn't work.I have been over on the Saints forum as it has been fun reading their threads on losing Brees and Payton in back to back seasons. I came across this little gem. Pretty funny if true. Not a bad little comp to come back.
So, my dude from HS who lives in Tampa says the dealership he works at has one of twelve all electric Hummers made. It is allegedly from the Bucs to Brady for him to stay. Take it for what it's worth.
Bucs begging Brady to stay
