OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Cooper Kupp should probably be in the MVP conversation but no WRs have ever won it. If Jerry Rice and Randy Moss couldn't do it. Then it's impossible.

It would have been interesting how much votes Henry would have gotten if he had stayed heal and ran for over 2000 yards.

There really should be 2 MVP awards now, for a QB and a non QB.

What's with the coMVP with Manning and Steve McNair in 2003? Can anyone add some context?

Both got the same number of votes. I thought McNair should have won it but ok. Brady was a bit of a spoiler I think he got quite a few votes himself and took some away from the other guys.

I think it’s funny Manning won MVP in 2008 with these stats: 4002 yards passing 27 TD 12 INT 95 rating.

I think Jamarr Chase is also right on the verge of being in the MVP conversation. Poor Mac any other season but this one and he’s probably ROY.

But for a non QB to get it none of them would have to stand out. Right now it’s Brady and Allen in that order.

Very well said.
Fun stat: Brady is 8-1 in the playoffs vs the league MVP that year.

Beat Warner (01), Manning twice (03, 04), McNair (03), Tomlinson (06), Ryan (16), Mahomes (18), Rodgers (20)

Only loss was Manning (13).

Maybe it’s better if Brady doesn’t get MVP. Lol

2008 was a down year for the entire league which makes Brady’s injury that much worse.

Man the Bucs are likely to come out of this weekend as statistically the 5 seed, and even if NO somehow loses they’ll still be the 4th seed.

It’s not a bad thing, really. I can’t remember many teams that separated from the rest of the league, in terms of record and reputation, and won the SB. Bucs last year were 7-5 and left for dead; Chiefs in 2019 actually struggled and were 6-4; Patriots in 2018 lost those games to Steelers and Dolphins and we all thought they were out at 9-5.

Getting overlooked while still being in prime position to be #1 or #2 in the conference is arguably the best position to be in. I really do believe expectations and pressure grind on teams.

Those Pats and Chiefs teams got a bye though.

Work cut out for the Bucs. Looking at the Rams schedule and health, I think it’s unlikely they lose four or more games total. In that case, the Bucs would need to win out, assuming no three way tiebreaker.

Rams get to play a Henry free Titans tonight so pencil that win in.

The Rams 2nd half schedule is pretty brutal down the stretch!

Buccaneers if healthy will be hard to beat

Early games are still going, but they're looking good for the Bucs right now

Cowboys down 19-0
Saints down 17-3
Panthers down 21-6

Saints just took the lead. Unreal

Allen losing to the Jax pretty much takes him out of MVP discussion.
