OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I agree. Cameron was a beast all night. I really didn't have much issue with the coaching at all. I thought the game plan was really good until everybody got injured and then Brady was just trying to inch down the field for the touchdown that would have won the game. The missed field goal early really hurt them. And of course Brady's fumble inside the 20 as well.

Getting a bit lost in all this is how well the buc defense played. That might have been one of their best games of the year. They completely shut down Hill and that offense from the second possession on. If they didn't have the injuries Brady probably wins in a blowout.
The defense was the silver lining. Bucs will go far regardless of injuries if the defense has finally rounded to form.

Yes, the Bucs D was great last night…against a backup QB, who clearly hasn’t had a lot of experience throwing the football in the NFL.

I agree. If they can play like that flying around everywhere getting pressure covering the receivers then they got a shot at making a pretty good run.

Wish we had any clue what’s up with Fournette and Evans. We already know Godwin is missing the next 3 weeks.

Bah. You can't tell me that with Gronk, Vaughn, Brate, etc. and what is SUPPOSED to be one of the league's best offensive lines they still couldn't have mustered 10 points with a little creative adjusting. The coaching staff lost three guys and was caught flat-footed.
The offensive line, Brady, Gronk, coaches, kicker, all had bad games.

Brate, Rojo, Miller are competent backups.
The rest ie. Vaughn, Darden, OJ are garbage.

Once the top guys went down, the coaches and Brady should have adjusted to moving the chains and settling on kicking field goals. That was their best chance to win. Of course the kicker had to stop missing too.

Nope, you're missing the point. When the Bucs supporting cast is perfectly intact, Brady can effectively work a system that doesn't rely on maximizing his skill set. When it isn't and the coaches can't adjust accordingly, he's hung out to dry. That's why Tampa failed to score 10 points last night with their defense playing lights out. Superior coaching and a system designed to maximize Brady's abilities is why you saw him succeed so often in New England with mediocre weapons at his disposal.
Sure, just like the outstanding coaching job Bill had against the Colts. Lol

The fact is, Brady is the one that executed in NE despite all the mediocre weapons that his GM/HC surrounded him with. Without Brady, Bill is a good coach just like BA, not great. They both benefited from having the GOAT QB.

Then Brady should have had no problem last night...

I see Porksley is back trolling since the Bucs lost. F_ck that b!tch. Stop feeding the trolls.

No one’s really mentioning this, but that might have been the worst game of Gronk’s career. 2 catches on 11 targets. 29 yards. Numerous drops.

Talk about a Murphy’s Law game.

We see the defense make adjustments.

One thing we don't see are the Bucs offense make in game adjustments. If the top guys are out, the offense is going to have to go to a more methodical move the chain type offense. On 3 and 2, Brady can't through 20 yards to Darden, Vaughn, or even Gronk(if he is covered by CB1 or doubled). Gotta do screens and runs more.

Remember the Bucs D looked good because they were facing someone at QB with just a bit better than Cam Newton's passing skills. The Bucs defensive backfield is mediocre at best. The front 7 is very good.
Besides weakness in in game coaching, usually made up by Brady's orchestration of the very talented starters, STs on the Bucs are below mediocre.
Up to now I was giddy looking fwd to January games but both the Bucs and Pats showed serious weaknesses making the outlook disconcerting. Bucs should win their division even with the talent out. Pats need to beat the Williams again Sunday.

They were trying to pick up chunk plays since they weren't going to be able to march it down the field against that D. Unfortunately, Darden is god awful and Vaughn is useless. Gronk was off all night (mainly being mugged w/ no flags). Gio being out is a huge loss.

Agree it was a bad game for Gronk. But also alot of bad luck, bad throws, tight coverage, and good plays by the defense.

Those 9 misses to Gronk. Only about half were catchable.

Of the catchable catches, the defense made great plays. The one deep on the sideline, he was about to get hammered by the safety coming towards him and he had another defender on his back. If he caught that ball, it was 50/50 he is injured.

OMG just remembered that the Bucs face Cam Newton twice in the next few weeks. Should be freaking EPIC!!!

Tyler Johnson is going to have to step up with Godwin out for the regular season. He's now WR#3 assuming Evans can play. If Evans is out too, that leaves AB, Perriman and TJ. Ds will just double AB.

Three times, Ronald Jones made a move to lunge short of the first down, by design. Never seen a RB with worse instincts. He’s so talented and yet such a moron. Maybe it’s on Brady for not working with the subs enough, but there’s an enormous dropoff for these second stringers. Miller, T. Johnson, Howard, Brate, Vaughn, Darden, are all completely useless against man coverage.

I forgot to mention about Gronk being mugged, so not quite all on Gronk and Brady but also the refs. There was one definite pass interference on one deep sideline throw where defender didn't even turn around.

ROJO is great for ripping a 10 yard run but yeah he is useless on those must have short yardage.
