OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

This feels like a game where Rodgers turtles especially if Arizona gets up early. It is stunning how bad GB has been on the West coast under LaFleur. I am rooting for GB as I want the Cards to get a loss but I have little faith Rodgers pulls this off unless Arizona cracks under the pressure of a big game they are expected to win.

The longer Arizona goes undefeated, the higher the pressure to keep on winning. If they can beat Packers, the talk will increase significantly. Steelers folded dramatically after their 11-0 start last year. Cards will fold and I wouldn't be surprised to see them 13-4 and behind the Rams.

I really hate the 1 team bye format. Fact is, winning championships already require so much luck and talent. Of TB, LAR, ARI, and DAL, only one team will get a bye. Seems rather ridiculous and will make late season games much less interesting.

You'll hate it when the bye is gone altogether. NFL is always looking for more money and I'm sure 8 playoff teams in each conference will be the plan down the road. I don't know how that would work without getting rid of the bye.

I would prefer no bye vs 1 bye. The advantage is just so big for that one team.

Or bring back the 2 byes at that point.

I just think dynasties are good for sports.

I’ve lost interest in the NCAA tournament. Why? Because every year it’s a brand new cast with all the old ones gone to the NBA. One year and gone.

I’ve lost interest in baseball. As much as I hated them, the Yankees were great for fan interest. Rooting against/for the same familiar players every year in the ALCS/World Series was great. They play 162 games…then they have a 3 game series (!) and there’s silly 1 game random eliminations too.

And the Patriots generated NFL interest, too, as did the 90s Cowboys, 80s 49ers, 70s Steelers, 60s Packers, etc. I think you want to reward the best teams every year with a better chance to make it to the championship game. It’s going to further randomize the winner with an extra elimination game. If we go back in history, and now those dynasty teams need to win an extra round, how many titles for the Steelers, Niners, Cowboys, Patriots? Certainly less.

I truly believe the Patriots were the ultimate unicorn to do what they did in the cap era. Look at the Chiefs right now or Seattle. Rodgers will be out of GB at seasons end. So much change and little stability across the league.

I like dynasties too but it seems the leagues are working hard to prevent them.

I like the bye. There should be a reward for being the best team in your conference
I see the point but I also like the 2 byes. It helps level the field of the top teams because things like scheduling and timely injuries to opponents can be the difference between #1 and #2. As an overall reward the #1 gets homefield regardless so might as well let them both rest.

Depleted Packers face tall task vs. unbeaten Cards

That's a current headline. Do you think the Pats ever got a headline like that? Everything the media does is pre determined with an idea in mind. Same with announcers and how they choose to highlight officiating mistakes and at what points in the game. I truly believe they have meetings about it prior to each game with these things in mind. They know what people want to hear and who the favorites in each games are. They are there to tell a story. There are no journalist.

Chris Simms pants bulging at the notion of going on Twitter after the game to demonstrate how the Packers let down Aaron Rodgers.

No doubt and it's a joke. I think they will win though I'm calling it and he may then have a stroke if they give him airtime on SNF. Can you imagine if Rodgers ran through the playoffs and won it all without Adams like Brady did without Gronk. He would be hailed as Jesus Rodgers.

Not an opinion. I am going by what Arians has said in terms of Brady's input which is volumes more than what he had in NE. Brady said one of his main reasons for going to Tampa was because the offense would be a collaborative approach.

I am not saying Leftwich has not done anything but his impact IMO is minimal compared to Brady's other OCs. The change in offensive philosophy was Brady driven starting after the bye week last year and the personnel moves were also Brady driven.

There is nothing in Leftwich's past coaching endeavors to suggest he is some offensive savant. He just lucked into having the GOAT as his QB.
It always was and always will be about the players, not the coaches, and Leftwich is one of many examples.

What makes the one team bye significantly worse is the difference in schedules that each team plays. It didn't seem as bad with two teams.

They’re 6-0 with Adams since 2019. And they’ve averaged more points. Not that they’re better without him by any means, but they’re more than capable of winning.

I think most people don’t understand the Packers offense at all. Despite the narrative about Rodgers, the offense is very much predicated on the offensive line, running game, and short passing routes. They lead the league in separation yards on pass targets. They struggle when the line doesn’t dominate and when Rodgers goes back to his McCarthy days of freelancing. If he throws an INT or two early on, he completely turtle shells and loses all faith in the system while being paralyzed with fear about what an INT will do to his passer rating.

Brady and the Bucs might be able to have a mini dynasty if he plays for 4 years total. Don't see any teams dominating after that's.

Quite a change in QBs too. There are only 5 starting QBs in the league 11 or longer. Brady, Roethlisberger, Rodgers, Ryan, and Stafford. 27 QBs have been in the league 10 years or less.

I can see much of the older core star players playing until 2023 and still playing well. Brady, Gronk, AB, LVD, maybe Suh. Bucs have so much talent and youth that for sure they'll be a contender until 2023. If they can win 1 more SB. I think people will consider it a mini dynasty.

Brady keeps saying as recently this past Monday on his podcast that he doesn’t believe his physical health is gonna be what determines when he steps away so I really hope he stays motivated for years.
