OT-ish: The gambling thread

My book (FanDuel—PA) has a promotion where they give you back up to 50 bucks on NFL moneyline (specifically) wagers if your selected team loses by 6 or less. Obviously, if you win you don’t get the credit back, as you’d simply win the wager. It’s a nice bit of insurance for games that may have close spreads, and/or underdogs you want to take a shot on.

Interesting that Browns/Pats spread which was as high as 13 is back to 10 1/2 at most casinos.
Anyone know how Baker has played in the rain?

$50 each onSea -4, LAC +5.5, Car +6.5.
NE/Cle under 46 $150

Carolina...wtf was I thinking...smdh

I don't know which is a worse feeling: missing by one point or 100 points.

Look at the positive: 3 out of 4 with a plus+195 (if my late night math is correct), on just a #300 investment - not bad at all. To me that is some good prognostication.

I think most degenerates tend to bemoan the L's that qualify as BIG misses (on the prognostication end, not necessarily the cash side), I know I do.
TBH, I liked all of those bets but I only loved the Pats under. Should have gone harder at that...

Needs packers to cover -5

Hit 2 Parlays today out of the 4. Finally

I had to sweat out the under too, but mine was much lower at 43. I was losing it when Freddie Kitchens 1) decided to go for it on 4th and 16, and 2) decided to take the timeout and force NE to punt with under a minute.

Freddie screwed the pooch so many times and in so many ways in just this one game I honestly believe if it weren't for the fact Haslam has to already be painfully aware of how badly he f'd up by ditching Williams and is no doubt horribly embarrassed by it he'd fire him on the tarmac when the plane landed. From game planning to preparation, playcalling, challenges, clock management, communication...you name it, he messed it up. AND THAT WAS COMING OFF THE BYE against a banged up Pats team working on a short week. That was a year's worth of Gase, Pagano & Jackson level brain infarctions rolled up into one mind numbingly bad display. Kitchens is simply not an NFL level HC, period. Belichick's missing hoodie sleeves could outcoach that clown. As good as it is to be a Pats fan that's how bad it must be to be a fan of the Brownies.

Yeah, some might say it's worse being a Jete fan but those inbred halfwits don't realize how bad they have it, Browns fans do.

Man the 49ers ROLLED them. I was thinking of taking SF at -6.5 but was nervous.

I need the Deloran to go into the future and get a sports almanac

Week 8 results: Loser week. :(

Here are week 9 picks

Not too many head scratchers this week. The ones that really stands out is the Steelers beating the Colts and the Bucs over the Seahawks. Broncos over Browns is interesting, but not shocking per se.

Ran outside the baseline with Houston, tonight. Not even sure why. I’m guessing recency bias and a bad hunch that the Astros were going to close it out. This will be the first time that the road team has won the first 6 games in any series, in any of the major 4 sports.

Was just wondering if the home team lost every game in a seven game series before. Guess this answers my question. Thanks.

Just caught a typo in my picker. I mixed up the titans Panthers pick although it's only .01 of a point off I went in the wrong direction by accident.

Dallas was down 2 goals in the 3rd with 10 min left to the Wild. Ducks were down 1 goal in 1st.

I was watching the way Dallas was playing and they were flying. So I had this strange gamblers feeling that worked out. Worst lead in hockey.

But getting Dallas at +240 and Ducks at +175....HUGE winner for me.

Funds the next 2 weeks for me. It was a huge gamble but that's what it's about. Take those risks to try and hit it big

5-2 Since Saturday in the NHL. Feeling it

Right now Indy/Pitt is a PK and GB just dropped a half to -3. To me there's some definite value there. For entertainment purposes, certainly not worth throwing cash at, the O/U on Skins/Billdos has risen an entire half to a very 1970's-ish 37 lol

Where's my man @fnordcircle at with his plays?
I'm hoping his relative quiet of late is indicative of finally finding a place in his area to indulge his other degeneracies and not due to something mundane. There's still gold to be mined in these here hills

$300 a week on the Patriots will probably not change any time soon so it's not super worth mentioning week after week.

I really like having a -4 line this week though, I'll tell you that much.
