OT: Chiefs, 49ers trade 1st-round WRs

Meh, I dunno. Maybe if Baldwin was playing in Atlanta which has a significantly better offense he'd look better.

Sometimes players just excel in one situation and fail in another. Chad Johnson springs to mind.

Was he high on Baldwin or not so high on Jones?

I’m not really sure; I was just joking to be honest because I remembered that prior to the draft Belichick spoke highly of Baldwin. I actually am high on Baldwin myself, oddly I was looking at the Chiefs roster today because I was writing in the Von Miller suspension thread about how the Chiefs are not a team to sleep on with all their talent, when I was looking at the roster I noticed Baldwin was missing and immediately googled it to see if he was released, my intention if he was to released was to open a thread the said “SIGN THE BEAST”. I think Baldwin could be a stud; he hasn’t got much of a chance with the Chiefs but he’s a freak on paper anyway and I’m sure with the right people around him he could be developed.

Baldwin's been terrible. Jenkins has been terrible. Now they'll get a chance to be terrible with all new teammates.

I think it's way too early to call either guys busts. This is only Baldwin's 3rd season, and for Pete's sake, it's only Jenkins 2ND season !

We have that athleticism in Mark Harrison (almost identical except Harrison wins at 3-cone and Baldwin wins the vert). To be honest, I didn't watch any KC last year so I can't comment on how Baldwin plays.

But by the by, I really hope we'll get to see Harrison have a shot at the team in next years TC because I'm still quite excited by his potential.

Baldwin's soft on the line, is easy to bump of his route and has shown bad hands to date. Meanwhile, Jenkins is even softer on the line and has route running issues and questionable toughness. I didn't call either of them a bust, but c'mon. These are first round picks who were in danger of being cut after years 1 and 2 of their NFL careers. They can see Bustvillle from where they're standing.

I want to live in Bustville.

Thought this was Crabtree for Bowe, was about to punch my screen.
EDIT:actually upon further review Crabtree isn't that bad. Would prob be fair trade.

this thread PROVES once again that BB can't draft...good jb, CL's...rounding right into midseason form.....

Is nobody else intrigued to see what a 6'4, 230 pounds, 4.5-speed guy like Baldwin can go in the 49ers offense? With Crabtree out, he'll see the field if he's even remotely competent, and he seems like the kind of guy who could be the beneficiary of Kaepernick heaving it downfield on broken plays, as a big target who can get deep.

This becomes doubly true if Boldin gets hurt.

Crabtree currently has a torn Achilles, so there's no way KC would make that trade, especially since he'll be wanting a monster contract shortly anyway.

Which is a meaningless anecdote without knowing how many times BB has thought the same thing about two players and wound up being right. Anyone can look good or bad if you look at their best or worst evaluation in a vacuum.

Belichick got a pretty good WR for a 4th round draft pick in 2007. Said WR went on to break the record for most TDs in a season.

i am a big fan of crabtree...sucks that he tore his achilles

The Jenkins situation is an incredible illustration of what a crapshoot the draft is.

In 2011, the 49ers' top four picks were:
Aldon Smith
Colin Kaepernick
Chris Culliver
Kendall Hunter

Wow.

In 2012, with the same GM, the 49ers' top four picks were:

A.J. Jenkins
LaMichael James
Joe Looney
Darius Fleming

Ouch.

Neither Jenkins nor Baldwin deserved to be picked in the first round, even at the end of it.
Jenkins wasn't the best WR available at that moment, and Baldwin was then & is still a meathead.

Baldwin is the one BB said was as good as Julio Jones wasn't he? And did BB say that or did he mean in terms of value?
Revisionist history is great but BB was dead wrong on this one. Baldwin isn't fit to carry Jones' jockstrap.

Trading trash for trash, rarely improves the trash...

You never know how much the system affects a player's success/failure. He could be "just as good" for the Patriots or Falcons, but not the Chiefs. Or maybe BB was just trying to sabotage the Falcons

JB might have had as much upside as JJ! But JB hasn't been on a team as good as the Falcons! And didn't have Matt Ryan throwing him the ball!
