OT: Chiefs, 49ers trade 1st-round WRs

Is nobody else intrigued to see what a 6'4, 230 pounds, 4.5-speed guy like Baldwin can go in the 49ers offense? With Crabtree out, he'll see the field if he's even remotely competent, and he seems like the kind of guy who could be the beneficiary of Kaepernick heaving it downfield on broken plays, as a big target who can get deep.

This becomes doubly true if Boldin gets hurt.
Not really. Measurable numbers mean stuff all when you're an average to below average NFL player.

WRs in particular. At certain positions like DE, measurables freaks tend to thrive. But at others like WR (and QB, of course), fabulous athletes seem to fail at nearly the same rate as everybody else.

I'm still shocked that Belichick thought Baldwin was even in the same hemisphere as Jones.

The Jenkins situation is an incredible illustration of what a crapshoot the draft is.

In 2011, the 49ers' top four picks were:
Aldon Smith
Colin Kaepernick
Chris Culliver
Kendall Hunter

Wow.

In 2012, with the same GM, the 49ers' top four picks were:

A.J. Jenkins
LaMichael James
Joe Looney
Darius Fleming

Ouch.

I still think it's too early to give up on James. If anything, he made a mistake by spending a second rounder at RB when he already had two very good ones.

These were my thoughts exactly. The only looming question is: Does Baldwin want it? There's lots of talk about how he just doesn't care much.
