Interesting. I was going off multiple mock drafts where I saw several DE/DTs off the board in the first 15 picks...

.
We'll see but I doubt we get more than one early, wouldn't be surprised to see none. IDL is rough. Edge\Rush is better but neither have top tier guys in demand imo.

I am curious to see how teams value the probably Best at least one of the two Best edge rushers g. Rousseau. He needs more development than other current high drafted DE like Young, but there are Not many defense Player except from parsons surtain maybe koramoah and paye who are that good to be a top 15 pick. I currently can't See any other DT or DE in the First maybe late First but nothing more. Probably Barmore, Tufele have some guys like them and the miami /pittsburgh edge players but who else idk. There are more two down NT than last year but they don't show much against the pass so Kind of a to high for me in the second where we pick. But I like those NT a lolot and would be happy to get Shelvin Davis or mcNeil

Rousseau is a tough one. Probably RUSH/EDGE5/6 for me without really grading him.

Horn, Browning anda few others could sneak in but yea the draft should be dominated by offense early on.

Making a draft thread tonight with my PTP list on it but here are IDL 2nd - Barmore, Daviyon Nixon, Tufele, Onwuzrike are top of list

I can See horn going as number 3/4 cornerback..Not quit sure how teams will value caleb farley but with surtain maybe First cb off the board stokes horn farley could compete for the other Spots. I think Collins even moses who i don't See as a second maybe late second but rather third round could go before browning. Do you think browning will be the second lb or am i misunderstanding it ?
Onwuzurike idk can shed better than expected for his size but it's Not the DT type i like and think as a big need. I would say could compare him to cowart when comaring him to our DT. I like Barmore and Davis the most Tufele right behind but I would rather sign guy and butler than barmore (potential butler role) or tufele (maybe Guy role sth between ). Davis or Shelvin would be stout against the run with guy on the 3 tech next to them

Mac Jones tweets a scrawny photo of himself and 1999 Brady:

ESPN article about Mac:

Photo of Mac with animals, this dude seems like the young next gen Tom:

"
  • . Mac? He was the string bean. The scrawny kid whom Jack Lundgren, Jones' high school teammate and close friend, guffawed at when he first laid eyes on him. The scrawny kid who grew into a less scrawny but still not awe-inspiring 6-foot-3, 214 pounds. Let's just say such physical stature does not a Cam Newton make. He's more Tom Brady ... circa 2000, at the NFL scouting combine, shirt off, pastiness thrown into sharp relief, nary a muscle in sight. The resemblance is so uncanny that Jones once tweeted a portrait of himself clipped alongside Brady's inglorious combine photo.
And it's this not-physical marvel who will challenge the fastest guy on the team to a race, blather on about how he'll leave that fastest guy in the dust, then wink."

CB is an interesting one for me. I could see that going a few different ways. If Horn test well I wouldn't be shocked to see him go CB1 or 2.

Yea I think teams will love Browning. Esp a team like us who might like him as a SAM. Collins is all about testing for. Teams will want to see that speed show up and match his play. Another SAM possibility there. JOK will go LB 1,2 or 3. I could see Moses falling, he had some rough games and never put a full season of consistent play together. I think Bolton goes before him.

Yea IDL is all about preference this year I guess. I heard teams like Tufele, Nixon & Stills brothers more than most on Twitter/internet. I think we'll take a look at the WVU prospects they play a lot of fronts we like (Bear/Tite, manipulate pressure)

I think this is a good description. It seems that there are not really many possible three down IDL. There are good run stoppers and some who should be used more in sub packages against the pass. A lot of undersized dudes with 6 and 2 with less than 300 so far. I don't follow WVU, which player could be interesting from there? I heard if you look for just a 2 down NT BYU has a big man there

What about that enormous DT/DE kid from Georgia? He's huge and his scouting report sounds a lot like Richard Seymour

He's not Seymour or close to it. Davis is a 2 down plugger with no plan when rushing the QB. Lacks hand placement/technique, leverage and again little plan when getting to the QB. Strictly a power player that wants to go north or hold his ground. Not enough lateral quicks/movement. Might have some upside as a 5T in sub packages but he's not Sey. A lot for Jordan Phillips imo.

No one. I'm starting a draft thread soon to get into everything but there's no IDL worth that pick imo. Value/talent just isn't there. Wait until day 2/3 where value/need meet.

Well BGC explained it really well..projects as a 0-1 tech against the run but he holds his ground against double teams solid..has the size i would look for as a nt with 330 pounds and 6 foot 5..wouldn't mind to get him in the mid rounds to be honest i would be happy to get such a NT but i wouldn't mind other NT like Shelvin McNeil either..would be good to get some depth there with Allen healthy next season hopefully

I hear ya. Yea I just like using our first rounder on a stud defensive player. I don't have faith in our staff with offensive skill positions.

I can understand that completely. If no qb we like is available i wouldn't mind a defensive player as well but more a LB/DE/CB if we like Paye or Rousseau and they are there even though rousseau would not be that kind of player that fits us very well..or an Offense Linemen esp if thuney leaves
I mean tbh a guy like Waddle Chase or Smith would be great here and i don't think we can do a big mistake in taking them but will we spent such a high pick on that position? this is questionable to me

this is not a great draft for defensive tackles, but kwity paye of Michigan might be a defensive end that we could take at 16.

his pass rush has really improved this season, but he still needs work on setting the edge though. It seems to run in the Michigan program.

Nice I'll check him out. Thanks

I think we have to prepare to accept that we won't be getting a franchise QB in this draft, and we will be living with another re-tread FA QB next season. Super disappointing to be at the end of QB consistency.
The Patriots are going to pick in the middle of every round and will have a shot at a very good player. Jerry Rice, Troy Polamalu, John Bosa, Hugh Douglas were all picked 16th overall. But then again, Hart Lee Dykes was the Patriots pick at 16 in 1989.

Never mind.

We're doomed.

My favorite at 15 to 18 would be 6-4 260 Zaven Collins, a versatile front 7 rusher, LB out of Tulsa. He fits the Patriots more aggressive scheme and would be able to fill in wherever needed on the edge or at LB. With Hightower coming back, this guy would be a great fit with the young guns who stepped up in 2020. He played safety and CB in high school.

No mention of Pitts so far in this QB/1stRnd discussion thread, which is interesting because it seems he's the consensus pick for the Pats in a lot of mock drafts out there. After watching the game last night, I feel pretty torn. On the one hand, he's pretty light for his height, blocking is a serious work in progress, BB just picked 2 TEs in the last draft, and there are needs at QB and Defense, but on the other hand the thought of him, a hopefully healthy Edelman, Byrd(FA), Meyers, and (can't believe I'm frickin' saying this) Harry out there is pretty exciting.

Devonta Smith's had an absolutely incredible season, but after watching him, he looks really really skinny - like much lower BMI than Randy Moss even when he got to the league at 6'4"/198lbs skinny. It looks like he's going to get throttled at the next level, but then again, a similar small build player like Marvin Harrison did aight.
