So what’s the thought on Winovich at this point?

Other than the bonehead roughing play he did look good tonight. But Bill clearly had him out there well after the starters for a reason. I would hate to deplete pass rushing depth, especially if Uche has any health issues.
I watched that play a few times and it looked to me like he got tripped up on a lineman's foot and it sent him into Flacco that way. He looked a lot more like he was falling over accidentally than trying to make a sack. But, I could certainly be wrong there and it was just a dumb play - he's done that too.

still going on about LAST year. 8-9 and ALL the passes were on target. WTF man,
Ken are you honestly saying that you think Newton is a good qb?

The reason is that he missed a lot of camp and needs the work.

Cains? Yuck. That’s watered down Hellmanns. Shame shame. That is not ok. That’s like cooking a prime ribeye well done or like starting Hoyer in a regulation game. Some things are just wrong.
Hellman's is the devil's mayonnaisse.

All too often we've seen a rookie RB start hot, fumble, and then get mentally broken by the fumble (which I tend to think is due to playing cautiously/tentatively due to an over-focus on ball security in lieu of running loosely). I hope Stevenson can show some mental mettle and overcome that while continuing to run hard and loose.
I’ve never seen a player “mentally broken” by a mistake. Do you have an example?

Only got to see the highlights.

Cam didn't bounce pass - but it seemed like he was throwing receivers into hits.

The RB competition is bringing out a lot of toughness in the crew. Also loved seeing the toss sweeps with OL getting outside and providing an escort.

Mac is looking better and better - hell even Hoyer looked good.

Shaky day for our binkie kicker.

The D looked ok (but did pitch the shutout). Very vanilla - but I assume that's by design and not need.

Well what would he have to do for you to consider he did a good job, go 9-9. Have you seen even ONE of the bouncers he was doing last season. His decisions have been quicker over the last 2 weeks. His throws have real velocity AND accuracy. People wanted to stone him for his alleged "hospital ball" in practice, did anyone praise him for the non-hospital ball to Meyers. Evidently the strategy is to ignore anything he does well and just wait for a mistake and dwell on it.

Forget about last season, he sucked and we all know it. But recognize there were legitimate circumstances that helped lead to that result, and if you can't see that under much better circumstances he has looked decent last week and improved THIS week. Hope fully the progression will continue week to week. Hell they haven't even implemented Cams run offence yet.
'
QB was a really big shadow that loomed over the Pats chances for a good season. By ANY measure a lot of that "shadow" is being uncovered to the point where QB play and depth can be a real strength to the offense regardless of who plays. Be happy about that. You don't have to tear someone down in order to build another guy up.

we have no say in who the starter is...this is all just mental masturbation. We'll have to deal with whomever BB names. I will say I DID re-watch Cam's performance tonight and didn't see any of that dyamed throwing off his back foot crap. He stepped up in the pocket and stepped into all his throws. If this carries forward I'd have to guess BB names him starter...but biatching and moaning about it serves no purpose IMO.

Don't read too much into him getting a bunch of snaps. Winovich missed a TON of camp. Bill flat out said they are going to do whatever they can to "catch him up". Part of that is getting him reps in preseason games.

Not worried about Harry - it just made the decision easier. Lets be realistic, he can barely get open in preseason, if one of our starting 3 WR's go down, would we really expect him to be any sort of factor?? No.
However, I'm a bit worried that Agholor didn't see 1 target tonight (although that goes back to my point that Cam only looks to Meyers because he can't diagnose or see the field half as good as Mac)
Let's be realistic Lazar just posted about the WFT game and stated that Harry was open PLENTY. That destroys all you who have been bashing Harry about the WFT game.

You do realize that you just destroyed your own argument in regards to "being worried about Agholor." If Cam only looks to Meyers (which he doesn't) then it doesn't matter if Agholor get's open or not. Just like it doesn't matter if Harry get's open if Cam is only looking for Meyers. You also need to remember that the focus of the Pats is the 2 TE set and the Running game. Not the passing game. At least with Cam in there, anyways. With Jones, it's likely to be very well balanced.

1. Stevenson, Mac, Cam, all played great. Good signs.
2. #8 Ja'Whaun Bentley played terrible, this is a case where tackle numbers lie. This guy is a major liability, he can't cover anyone and is a massive weak link when he's on the field.
3. The kicker Nordin blew it, he's done for.
4. Michel isn't bad. Probably has life as a 3rd/4th RB here. Wasn't worth a 1st but he can help the team if he stays.

Tucker is playing the Eagles homer announcer role well.

Tucker sounded like a buffoon. Especially when he was calling players "GUY" or "DUDE" and his whole needing to explain himself. If he never does another Pre-season game it will be too soon.

Objective numbers have consistently shown Harry has the least separation on his routes out of all Patriot receivers, year over year. Harry sucks. This might be one you don't want to fall on the sword for. NKeal Harry is terrible. Want me to pull up the play where he takes out Wynn on a running play? NKeal has zero value here.

Harry may be injured to the point of IR...we'll find out soon enough

He's gonna be like Stidham. Busts on their way out, that is after pocketing some checks from the IR list first.

.

I still like Nordin. Hopefully just the yips tonight.

I heard he missed 1FGs and 2XPs. Not a strong showing there.. He's going to really have to bounce back between now and final cuts to make the team

Nordin really set himself behind. Will be very hard to win the job now. Worst possible day he could have had.

That was another wtf play from Harry. Lol, I wasn't sure who botched what live, but that sure as hell seems to be Harry's miscue.

Posting some random tweet when the guy doesn't know what the blocking assignments are is just silly. It actually looks like WYNN didn't drop deep enough before he started going towards the outside of the formation.

Harry looks like he's supposed to take on #75 and mirrors 75 as he comes across the line. At no point does it look like Harry is supposed to go to the 2nd level and engage the LB. That being said, we don't know the specific blocking assignments so it could have easily been Harry screwing up..
