I knew I shouldn't have signed in this morning, figured the "JJ to the HOF" after one game guys would be here...

That said, having some of the league's best receivers and a veteran OL sure helps ...
He had the same receiver and OL when he sucked before the 4th quarter.

They are players that can elevate their game in crucial moment and other can’t. It just happen that I think that Drake is in the can’t category otherwise we would have already seen it.

Does that mean that McCarthy will be an HOFamer? No but I think he has trait that could allow him to be a great QB.

Jalen Hurts
Either Manning brother would also be a fair answer.

Also Aaron Rodgers has never been clutch in his life. He’s managed to have an ok career. Even if he’s a total douche

It’s too early to say if Maye will or will not have the killer attitude and winning intangibles.

Yeah, but it's more edgy to crap on the guy early and often.

Since we won't really know who he is for quite a while there's little risk of blow-back in doing so.

You mean a setup that made Sam Freaking Darnold look good might help a 2nd year guy look good too?

You mean you can put a guy like Mac Jones into an experienced offense with a good coach and even get into the playoffs?

Re: the whole clutch, clutch-ness, lack of clutch gene discussion.

Anybody else see some irony in a bunch of guys who want to give up on the whole season and tank for a draft pick following a week 1, one score loss, commenting on how a 22 yo kid who’s job performance gets discussed on TV, deals with pressure?

Anyone watch JJ McCarthy last night? Personally, I was very vocal in wanting to draft him ahead of Maye.

After shaking off some rust, he looked tremendously poised in taking his team from behind to win. His throwing mechanics are light years ahead of Maye's right now even though he is a rookie. Throws with a nice wide base and really limits extra hitches and unnecessary movement in the pocket. He can run, too.
He also threw a pick 6

I mean Manning has still one 4th quarter comeback during his awful rookie year and had 7 4th quarter comeback or winning drives in his second year.

So no Manning wasn’t unclutch. He just wasn’t on the same level as Brady.
Great argument, throw out a word that you can choose to define however you want to. Can’t lose

And brought his Team back; KOC have turned around every QB he came in contact with except J Dobbs. I like JJ McCarthy's future.

I don't like Aaron Rodgers much but he was that same way against the Jets Sunday. Not pretty but they scored 30+ points by doing the little things to make plays, taking hits, etc., keeping the Steelers in the game.
revenge game

"Oh my gosh, JJ McCarthy won a one-score game with an all-world offense. He is amazing. If only the Pats drafted him instead of Drake Maye, who lost a one-score game with a toilet-grade offense! Drake is a bust!"

Why aren’t we talking about the punt down 10 with 5 minutes to play at midfield?

He repeatedly threw interceptions and choked in the tightest moments early in his career.

forgive me if this has already been posting in this very long thread.

I think he did well aside from that one sack and the penalties.

Agree. He had the guy blocked on the sack where Maye stepped up into him. The strip sack was a negative and the penalties otherwise very solid.

Jared Wilson was having a really good game but then unraveled late in the 3rd qtr and the bad play continued into the 4th. I suspect they figured out they could not push him back so they started doing twists and stunts.

Bedard says on the film after Maye had a **** throw to Stevenson, Henry is on film telling him to calm down.

Guy seemingly can't just stay calm and process. That could be a major issue going forward.

That won't mesh well with a Josh offense.

The mental aspect and him throwing high to receivers are the biggest things holding him back. I'm not sure, having watched him in pre-season and the first game, he sees the field all that well. He does seem to miss seeing open receivers at times. All I want from him is week to week progression.
