Yep and I have been a massive Maye fan. Was never a Jones fan but man I am starting to waver just a teeny bit. You are correct I am looking for week to week progression and saw a bit Sunday but not much. Need to see more, and the protection was actually pretty damn good if you look at it.
The last bit about protection is the part Im not sure about. Apparently, PFT says he was under pressure more than any other QB in the NFL this weekend.

I disagree, you can gain experience what to do in situations but you either have the speed of thought and the vision or you don’t.

Same in all sports, not specific to NFL.
There are a ton of QBs out there who processed better as they developed. I watched Josh Allen up here in Buffalo every single week in his first 2 years and he had a very hard time.

The same is true of Brady and countless other stud QBs.

I hope abandoning the run isn’t something we’ll see regularly from Josh this time around. We saw it a bunch of times before with him.
I disagree.

If an opposing Defense sells out against the run, including the coverage of QB runs, then receivers will open up, allowing an easy victory if the OC can call reasonable plays and the QB can execute,

If possible, the Offense needs to take what the Defense gives us. We had all the missing elements needed for victory except one.

I really think it's going to be a slow process. The staff is new, he's got to learn JMcD's system, and, to MV's point, they all have to learn how much to put on Maye's plate before he's overloaded. I think he's got a lot of growing to do, and I think it's going to take years. I would like to see him start stacking some good games, but I think right now, as fans, we need to be looking at him stacking series together. Then quarters. Then halves. Then maybe games. How does he respond after something bad happens? This week was horrible after the INT. How does he respond after a **** second half?

I also think they've got to establish the run somehow.

I think we all need to be patient. I get that everyone wants him to flip the switch. I really don't think it's going to happen as quick as some folks do.
There are a lot excuses in this post. The reality is that switch QB's and we would have had a very easy win. We needed a top 20 QB and we didn't have one. Of course, you are correct. We have an inexperienced QB who may need this whole year or more to develop. To state the very obvious, this is NOT a good look for one of the SIX QB's from last year's draft. As of now, we have the #6 of 6, and yes, others have had their challenges in talent support and coaching. It was truly sad watching the MIN game and a young QB was ready to perform.

I really do think he's immature emotionally. Getting jacked up for a pre-season game (his words) was a huge red flag for me. Doesn't mean he can't be good, it just means he needs a lot of seasoning.

As far at 6th goes... pump the brakes. Penix threw for 11 yards more, a 93 rating and lost. He's a solid incomplete. I'll grant that both guys looked good last night, Williams threw for a record breaking 210 yards in a loss, while McCarthy set the world on fire with 143. Nix won, so there's that, but he threw for for a huge day; 176 yards, with a TD and a pair of picks. Daniels also won, and has so far been the brightest of them all, so I am not going throw shade on him.

My point is that 4 of the other 5 didn't necessarily have better days, and it's far from decided that Drake is sixth. He did, however, suck in the second half and hasn't had any level of success compared to Nix and Daniels. Both have some playoff pelts, and Drake just has playoff ticket stubs. So do the other guys.

It's one game with a new staff. One. Game.

I agree.

Daniels is above the rest. He could be a top 5 QB in the future.

I think that Nix is already a reliable QB.

The other four are in a bunch at 3-6, which is OK as long as our QB becomes a reliable QB, hopefully top 10.

forgive me if this has already been posting in this very long thread.

I think he did well aside from that one sack and the penalties.

Fans: Our OL sucks! We better do something about it!

Fans (Also): No, not that way!

I'd take top 15. I just don't see that big of a jump this year. Part of that is him, and part of it is the team around him.

Guy seemingly can't just stay calm and process. That could be a major issue going forward.

Or that could be a 22 year old guy in his first game at home with a new coaching staff.

Not a good look now, but this isn't a win-now team. MN on the other hand is in Year 3 of the O'Connell regime.

PFT and PFF are narrative and engagement bait.

That's ********
Nope, you think any football player can be Messi or fabregas by practicing enough?

Those guys have the vision and speed of thought that makes them elite, every sport is the same. Like I said, you can gain know-how through experience but you don’t suddenly see special passes you didn’t see before, you might just execute them better.

That’s why I’d like to see drake making special attempts at passes even if he fails in the execution of them for now. That would give me the confidence that there is something to work with and develop.

Lotsa Word Salad there, wasn't sure it was English.

It’s real English unlike the one you lot destroyed.

Will keep it simple for your brain, let’s see Drake attempting elite passes that you’d see the likes of Mahomes doing. Even if he doesn’t complete them.

I don’t need to see him making boring safe passes right now, the team is **** anyway.
