Absolute embarrassment today. Mac Jones is a good QB, the rest of the offense was awful. Jonnu Smith is bad. Hunter Henry has been invisible. The front office traded for a OLman who spent all last season pretending to have a bad calf injury and is doing the same thing here. Josh calling two Brandon Bolden runs when we needed a TD was a joke and I would think about a demotion after that nonsense.
Defense? Jalen Mills is a bad #2 CB and I didn't get that signing when it happened, but that's not my biggest complaint. The pass rush was supposed to be our strength (and get pressure sometimes), and when crunch time happens and we try to get pressure on Winston we get...NOTHING. No created pressure, no extra bodies sent trying to get Winston confused. It was the most gutless display of defensive play calling I have seen from this team in years and embarrassed me as a fan.
Brady will score 100 next week against this timid, cowardice excuse for a defense.
Take away a few positives. Judon has been and was a stud today. Having an up and coming Uche in there will only make them better. Also I thought the interior pressure was good on the defensive side today with Wise, Barmore and Godchaux. Overall, with the return of Gilmore this defense is going to be really scary again soon.
Oline tackles were awful today. Interior guards and center played ho hum bad to ok but tackles were putrid.
Good to see Bourne get involved today. Henry stuck out as open and capable. I’d love to defend Smith but today just wasn’t his day.
Mac Jones is just a rookie. A very good one btw. Very surprised by the oline issues. Can’t even blame him for the pressure he’s facing because it seems the pressure is coming as soon as the ball is hiked. My best advise to look at the quick slant run by Bourne in the 4th quarter that you connected on. Those are the types of plays that if you hit over and over will force the defensive coordinator to change his calling. Hear that Josh? How many times did we see that today? I’m no Josh hater but he’s been pretty bad this year so far.
Regardless of what happens this year, if mac plays well ill be happy. Getting that franchise qb is the biggest challenge, other parts can be modified and improved eventually. Just hope if things continue down this path it doesn’t mess with his confidence.
I agree. I wouldn't totally blame Jonnu when they keep playing him like an outside WR. That's just crappy play calling by the oc. As dumb as Bolden running in red zone is the oc having Jonnu play outside receiver.

In college separation is easy when a Div 1 powerhouse plays a ****hole college team. In the NFL, separation is rarely more than a matter of inches. Mac is starting to find that out.

If this team gets destroyed next week I don’t think it’s hyperbole to suggest that jobs should be in jeopardy.
Record FA $$$ spent and a terrible product on the field.
Smith, Agholor, and Godcheaux specifically look just awful for the $$$ spent.
Add to that Mayo and Steve don’t seem to have a clue and I don’t see much upside in keeping our older but valuable vets if we can get some value.
This team reeks of rebuild
Why would we keep a thread calling for Belichick to be “FIRED” because the team started 1-2? There’s criticism and then there’s that dumpster fire. I deleted it.
some more grist for the McDaniels sucks crowd...in it's last 28 games (2d half 2019 through today) the Patriots offense has scored over 21 points just TWELVE times...with a defense that wilts when it needs stops in the last 6 minutes, this is not nearly good enough

we played not to lose today...which almost 99% of the time leads to a loss. Those run calls to a special teams backup RB were about as deflating, ridiculous and obnoxiously stubborn as I've seen in a few years from our OC. Let the kid throw, let the kid make mistakes. Those runs proved nothing, did nothing and showed nothing. This isn't a seasoned ,cohesive football team...it's a work in significant progress. Go down swinging is ALWAYS my motto...not azz up like a surrender monkey.
