“There were a lot of problems, certainly wasn’t all him.” - Belichick on Mac Jones
What a load of horseshit by Belichick….. yeah obviously it was a failure of the entire team… But Mac Jones has shown nothing this year….and is not a leader….. and has been exposed as a quitter

Sorry, keeping Bill around after his draft debacles and coaching blunders since Brady last season… Makes no sense… Time for him to go elsewhere, or retire, and be thankful for what he got
I agree, the cord needs to be cut.
I thought we said this last week… Next week’s game is a must….. especially against the Saints at home… This was one of the worst embarrassments and patriots recent football history….. and it falls at the feet of a coach who’s getting exposed now badly… Bill Belichick
Both the Saints and Raiders were must wins because they have Buffalo and Miami next which are going K'O them.

Tua has Hill, Waddle, Mostert and Achane. Let's not act like it's just a "he's more physically gifted" thing.
It's both. Two things can be true.

Tua has more velocity on his throws. So many of Mac's passes sail in the air.

Tua throws with MUCH greater anticipation than Mac. It's why Tua has a fast release. His o-line isn't that great but he gets rid of the ball quickly.

And again, he's shown the ability to be clutch even before he had Tyreek.

It's a shame. Mac Jones might have even turned into a middle tier QB for the 49ers. Instead BB helped sabotage his career. He got to work with a genius OC like Mcdaniels his rookie year and looks good. Then gets saddled with an inept OC in Patricia in his crucial 2nd developmental year.

Now in year 3 he's got no talent to work with and his confident is completely shot. He doesn't have the mental toughness, decision-making, arm talent, composure, or pocket awareness to overcome a weak OL and only mediocre receiving targets.

I say Mac Jones looks WASHED now. It's time to move on and do an entire revamp of the offense. Somebody mentioned that if Mac Jones moves on he might turn into Colt McCoy. My reply is who cares, Colt McCoy was never good enough to be a true NFL starter in the 1st place. Let's find a legit QB1!
I'd compare him to Purdy as he has a putrid arm, but Purdy has a lot of intangibles that Mac doesn't have. I've tried sticking up for Mac Jones, but enough is enough. Apparently, he was crying again. This is not how a professional athlete should be acting.

My point is, it's not worth even making the comparison when one guys has the worst offense around him in the league and one has the best. Tua still has dud games with an embarrassment of riches. Mac has passable games with garbage.

You're basically comparing how fast a guy can go on a Kentucky Derby winner vs a guy on a donkey.

You are right, two things can be true. But the difference between the Patriots and the Dolphins isn't Tua's skill vs Mac's skill. It's a world class offense capable of having historical games vs a worst in the league one. Tua's offense was better than this before Hill showed up. And people thought he was a bust then.

Take the Tua from two years ago when he was a bust and everyone was laughing at him, put him on this offense, which is worse. He looks even worse than he was then. Nobody here is going to be talking about the few good things he does like we don't talk about the few good things Mac does. We'd be talking about how he can't get it done and he can't elevate this offense. I get it, Mac isn't playing well and probably isn't the answer. But a large part of that is because he basially got a ****ty roll of the dice and was put in a position where most QB's would fail.

There were far more Mac supporters than @Rob0729. No one is seriously calling those people out now.

The problem with Rob is he spewed an unrelenting stream of ******** regarding Mac for 14 months. Every thread we had to hear it multiple times. Now, as @UGAPatsfan noted, he comes back with the whole "maybe I was wrong, but not really and here's why". But that's only after being pressed on the issue by multiple people. He'd happily pretend it never happened.

Now he has plenty of new personnel advice he thinks we should all listen to as if his previous positions weren't a disaster. Guy is a chameleon who's now become one of the board's biggest fire Bill advocates. For results on a team held back most (but not entirely) by the poor QB play he pushed for. If Bill should be fired now, he's the last one who should be saying it.

In short, Rob is completely shameless, and people pick up on that.

I am glad I live rent free in your head and all.

If I stuck to my guns and said Mac is still not being given a fair shot, you would trash me for that. Now that I said the last two weeks are inexcusable even with him not being given a fair shot, you are still trashing me.

The problem isn’t my take. It is you just hate me and you are looking for reasons to trash me. I guess when you have an empty life, you do things like that.

I don’t give a crap whether my takes are proven right or wrong. I make my opinions based on the information I have at the time. If the information changes, my opinion changes. Sorry if that irates you so much that you have spent your entire time on this thread posting about me and not the Patriots. But if it gives you some kind of release so you don’t go out and hurt someone, I am happy to oblige.

Yep. Time to move on from Mac. I've seen enough

I will be shocked if Bill starts Mac next week.

What's saving Mac right now is Zappe. That's just the reality. The coaches have zero faith in him, were willing to risk him on the waiver wire, and nobody wanted to snag him. Mac as crappy as he is, probably gets picked up as a back up on the wire.

I'll stand by my take. I wanted Mac as our franchise QB after year 1. I gave year 2 a pass. I still think there's a small chance he can be our guy with a new supporting cast. But sadly I think what the more likely chance is is that he has been ruined. Year two was a lot to blame for that. The roster is somewhat to blame for it. More than all else, his mentality is to blame. He just does not seem capable of moving on from bad plays, bad drives, bad games. He is the antithesis of clutch. Even if year 2 went well for him that seems like something he will never overcome and I don't want that from my QB

Anybody watch the Belichick presser?

Why? Zappe isnt the better option
Then why insert him during the games? That is dysfunction.

Revisionist history won't change the facts.
I well remember the team before Bledsoe and the team during the Bledsoe years. You are certainly free to believe whatever you want.

Yes, Brady was the GOAT. That does NOT diminish what Bledsoe did for the team, or just how good he was.

OK, let's be clear.

Bill took a reasonable shot at getting a franchise QB by drafting Mac at 15 and took a reasonable shot at getting a backup with Zappe in the 4th. How many of the QB's picked in the same rounds in those years are doing really well (other than the 1st pick in the draft). Consider what other traded up to get the #2 or the #11 when we got Jones. Did their GM's do better?

I might have taken additional picks in the early rounds, rather than wait and hope. But, I get it. Bill's last chance was for Jones-Zappe to succeed.
There's probably only 1 poster on this board who would go back in time and say Mac looks like a bad pick at #15.
