Agreed… I loved Mayo as a player but other than that as a coach, he has very little credential… And what we need right now is a great offensive mind… I am not sure that McVay wants to coach that much longer…
This team doesn't need someone that is going to focus on defense. I like Mayo, but I'm just turned off of anything associated with Bill's regime. If they fire Bill then you can maybe give Mayo a shot.

I hedged not because of the talent but my failing faith in the management.
fair enough

The defensive talent is there.

We are capable of acquiring defensive players as needed (e.g look at the 2023 draft)

I suspect that we will have an OK coaching staff on Defense. Personally, I suspect that both Mayo and Steve B will stay on.

Brady had an offensive line close to this bad once. He looked bad all year, everyone was calling him washed, he pouted all year and in the end left and looked like he couldn't be happier.

well we did make the playoffs that year. also he didn't have gronk. henry and gesicki are solid tight end targets and brady would incorporate them into the offense more. not saying we'd win the super bowl but we'd be competitive unlike now.

And he doesn't believe his WRs that they can get open and make plays for him..

It is true, but it doesn’t excuse his implosion the last two weeks. It is just damning of the entire offense.

Maybe we can SCAM the 49ers out of a pick. Wasn't Shannahan interested in Mac Jones a few years back but was talked out of the pick to draft Trey Lance instead?
Yes shanny.. wanted to draft him.. I'm sure Mac would love to be in that SF offense right now. I actually feel bad for Mac.. he had a good rookie season.. we thought we had the QB of the future.. BB butchered his 2nd year.. this season he's all put of sorts. However he sucks right now and it had to be killing him seeing what Tua and hurts have and what they are doing compared to this putrid offense. This isn't just another bad game.. this is what this team is. The defense looks just as bad they were frauds too.

Mayo should be the interim coach after the bye, if not sooner.

Yep there’s very little debate now…
The national media has caught on and they've been discussing this recently. His rep is going to take a major hit.

Shuuuuut the **** up. Link it or get out
Go suck another limp **** loser.

If you think I care enough about your butthurt over the Pats to go search for posts from August you are more pathetic than I even suspected.

It is possible, and even reasonable, before the last two weeks, to have given Mac the benefit of the doubt based on 2021 and the coaching he had last year. Many here, myself included, did that. It’s also possible to see the team’s and Mac’s play over the last few weeks… and change your opinion. I’ve done that now, along with others.

If you had said Mac was not the guy along along, I’ll say you were right. You were.

But I don’t see the need to trash our fellow PatsFans brethren for having had the other view previously, and then changing it based on current events.
There were far more Mac supporters than @Rob0729. No one is seriously calling those people out now.

The problem with Rob is he spewed an unrelenting stream of ******** regarding Mac for 14 months. Every thread we had to hear it multiple times. Now, as @UGAPatsfan noted, he comes back with the whole "maybe I was wrong, but not really and here's why". But that's only after being pressed on the issue by multiple people. He'd happily pretend it never happened.

Now he has plenty of new personnel advice he thinks we should all listen to as if his previous positions weren't a disaster. Guy is a chameleon who's now become one of the board's biggest fire Bill advocates. For results on a team held back most (but not entirely) by the poor QB play he pushed for. If Bill should be fired now, he's the last one who should be saying it.

In short, Rob is completely shameless, and people pick up on that.

Agreed! It's just you know RK isn't happy.. he's a business man and his business is being affected as the product on the field bares watching. Clearly if the team believed in him they'd surround him with talent. However just do Mac a favor and trade the kid. Let him go somewhere and revive his your career.

I never have a problem to admit when I am wrong. I don’t get why so many people on message boards are afraid of it. Who gives a crap if you are wrong?

But I have said for a while that Mac is not a QB who can carry lesser talent, but I wanted to see if he could be a Tua and be a good QB with a strong cast around him. We are never going to find out at least with the Patriots.

And yes, there were signs about his mental toughness before this year. But I did give him the benefit of the doubt last year even if he handed it awfully.

I think the Mac/Tua thing is unfair for this reason: Tua is more physically gifted than Mac…he’s just been injury prone.

Tua is basically a souped up version of what folks hoped Mac would be, while actual Mac is like ordering a Rolex from China and getting a spray painted Timex

Disagree. He sounds great in his interviews (knowledge, thought process, leadership). I think he will be a good coach.

From what I've heard from people close to Shanahan was that they were set to take Jones when they made the trade. But because there was so much time still left from the draft, they got cold feet after watching guys like Trey Lance. In the end, they felt they needed to make a splash after missing out on Mahomes and took Lance.

Yup. We thought Dallas was rock bottom. But Nope the whole team dug real deep to pull out an even WORSE loss against the Saints!

If you can tell me that Bill will remain on as head coach while they find someone else to pick the players then fine.

Otherwise I see no point in Bill sticking around.

That’s the key point. It would be one thing if they were losing playing Patriots football. They’re not, and it’s been going on multiple seasons now. Unforced errors. Terrible special teams. Undisciplined decisions. That’s why I’ve sadly reached the conclusion that BB has lost his mojo and we need to start moving on.
When you look at what he did in Cleveland and was fired because of it… As soon as he gets here and hurts, Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback of all time who could make chicken salad out of chickenshit… And all those titles poured in… And then Tom Brady leaves… And Belichick gets exposed for what he is which is a very good defensive mind… Not the best drafter… And a very average head coach if we’re being honest

This defense sucks without those Great players. What happened to Dugger? Uche?
The defense sucks? Obviously, you watched a different game.

The Defense gave up 20, a bit more than the 14 Jones gave up. I didn't do the arithmetic, but the points per minute is probably close.

Jackson will help a lot. Hopefully, we get some help from Jack Jones and from Flowers.
