Anyone else want to disagree with me about the pats having the worst d in the league?

We've never seen a Belichick defense play like this. It's not speed; it's not lack of pass rush. It's confusion. These guys are running around with no idea of what defense they are in. Whether they are in zone or man. Who is covering whom.
This appears to be the plain stupidest group of defenders the Patriots have ever fielded.
These are people who have played all their lives, and really cannot figure out a defensive formation.

I disagree. There is a lack of talent in the front 7. We don't generate enough pass rush and combine that with the confusion in the secondary and we end up with the last ranked D in the league. Communication issues do need to get cleaned up and we can get better, but there is a talent issue in the front 7.

I know communication is considered team defense, but it seems Gilmore is consistently involved in these breakdowns and usually it looks to be his guy who is the one that is wide open.

Newton has 189 yards passing at half. he has averaged 189 through the first 3 games

Patriots defense is the cure all for struggling offenses.

The problem is talent and communication the front 7 is filled with JAGs and unproven young players.

The secondary has no excuse for all the coverage busts, they have the talent to be an elite group.

i can't believe a BB coached defense with only one new guy in the defensive backfield can be so wholeheartedly out of whack! They are busted coverages everywhere!!

They might have to play zone, just so they can't screw up who covers who?

the site looks to be slow like the D

If the biggest problem with this D is communication, and I think it is, that's actually not bad news. Given the coaching staff and the fact that improvements and learning will naturally come from experience, that's the one thing that's the most easily correctable. But this, right now, is pretty god awful. This is one of the worst offenses in the NFL and they're breaking off plays in bunches.
That was my take up until this point. Now, I'm thinking that Gilmore is the Ocho Cinco of the secondary

Line is ok. Backfield has either had mass amnesia or they are being asked to do things that are too complicated.

How many times you gonna have miscommunication? It's joke.

Busted coverage killed us that drive, we will need to generate more pressure from the interior line.
Glad its only a 1 point game. But we need to be better in the 2nd half in order to win this game.

The sad thing is he'll go back to being a poor QB after this one. Winston is another scrambling QB. They better win this game. Because they could very well be 2-3 by next week.

It's one player blowing his assignments in Gilmore and Newton finding the open man because he's a mobile QB that is able to get away from the pressure..

Wouldnt be sure if much of this is not actually on Rowe

I don't think the front seven is the problem. It's not great, but it's not much worse from last year. It's all the secondary.
