Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

No one is denying The saints have the Bucs number head to head. What we are arguing is that the Saints will beat them out for the division without Payton and Bridgewater as their QB.

Jameis Winston is the QB.

Not in football. Coaching weighs a ton in football.
No it doesn't. There are plenty of average to below average coaches who made it to a SB, but none of them did it without the best players on offense, defense or both. And yet, as we saw last year with TB, the coaches can lose games in spite of the players.

Yes and no. Coaching impacts the overall philosophy of a team. A big reason why Brady has gone 0-4 against NO in the regular season is the NO Risk it no Biscuit philosophy of Arians. That boom or bust approach does not work well against NO. They would have won at least 1 game with a methodical NE type of offense.

Many of the Bucs’ biggest names aren’t here at voluntary OTAs. I don’t see Brady, Fournette, Evans, D. Smith, Barrett, David, White, Davis.

As expected, Chris Godwin here at Bucs OTAs but not participating. Same for rookie TE Cade Otton. LB Grant Stuard and rookie CB Don Gardner held out on the sidelines.

Bucs are at the maximum 90 players on the current roster, but there's an offensive tilt -- 45 offensive players, 39 defense, six specialists. I'd think that gets adjusted with a few defensive depth signings and offensive cuts between now and start of training camp.

As an example for the above. I don't ever recall NE going on an empty back set on 3rd and 2 or less, 4th and 2 or less. It's overly aggressive and dumb imo but the Bucs do it routinely. That's all on the coach.

With Payton as HC.
Payton wasn't the coach when the DC (current HC) kept Brady out of the EZ. The game they scored 9 pts and that Brady was so frustrated he went over to cuss out the DC. I believe that's also the game Godwin got taken out. The Saints got the Bucs number (even pre-Brady). It is what it is.

The Patriots have done it. And, in TB12's Tampa, that's on the OC and the QB.

Maybe, but it works. Bucs have avg'd 30 ppg while Brady has been there. Obviously more balance is better, but they're riding Brady's arm and football IQ to win.

Yeah....

Last year, the Saints were #19 in points scored, and #4 in points allowed. The year before, the Saints were #5 in points scored, and #5 in points allowed. The Saints haven't been beating the Brady Bucs because of the offense.

And how does that somehow guarantee that the Saints won't be tough this year?
It does not guarantee anything. You could be right but it is a huge IF and if we are talking odds then I much rather bet on the GOAT QB and his team minus Arians vs the Saints with Winston/Allen.

But it's not a huge "if". that's the point.
