Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I think we saw why Rudolph wasn't active tonight. They definitely were looking for blocking out of their TEs in this game.

I’ll tell you who ain’t moving: Otton and Kieft. Those two have been outstanding tonight.

Here's that TD catch by Evans:

The last time the Cowboys scored fewer than six points in a season opener was Sept. 10, 1989: Troy Aikman's NFL debut and Jimmy Johnson's NFL head coaching debut, per @ESPNStatsInfo.

Todd Bowles on Godwin’s return tonight

Godwin was heading off for treatment and didn't speak to reporters at length afterward, but indicated he's fine. So we'll see.

I know Dallas is weak offensively, but the Bucs secondary looked much improved. Only week 1 KC is coming up too

Swap the Bucs uniform to a Pats uniform and it sort of looked like a typical Pats game from a long time ago. Strong defense, win time of possession, good field position, lots of field goals, and strong running game. A key difference is much more shots taken down the field.

If the Bucs OL can develop and protect at even an average level, and the WRs remain healthy, this team is going to be tough to beat come playoff time.

Yeah their secondary doesn't look as weak anymore.

Dallas is legitimately weak on offense but in 2022 an offense isn’t held to just 3 points like that without the opposing defense also playing very well.

Dallas, missing WRs, didn't have the talent to force the Bucs to shift their DB package, which meant that the Bucs were able to play the safeties more, and to leave the extra CBs on the bench.

How good was the Bucs' defense Sunday night? Cowboys ran 64 offensive plays, none of them deeper than the Bucs' 31-yard line. After the opening drive, they didn't so much as cross midfield until the final minute of the third quarter.

Goedeke, Hainsey played well. Most of the damage came from the LT position

The problems for the Bucs are fixable. OL play was weak at the LT with Smith out, makes sense. Parsons and Lawrence are formidable. The WRs are still rounding into shape health wise, Godwin and Gage in particular with their hammys.

Defense especially secondary much improved. They played well, even if Dallas was shorthanded. The pieces are there to make a SB run.

The AFC champ this year will be a tough out for whoever makes it from the NFC. Bills, Chiefs, Chargers and possibly even the Broncos could all make it (elite QB play, impact players on both sides of the ball).

Prediction: Bills/Chiefs/Chargers vs Bucs in SB57 would be epic.

I'm going with the Bucs no matter who they play in the Super Bowl. With Brady there and this likely being his last season it can and will only end one way.

Great start by the defense and the offense looks better scheme wise overall, imo. Looked like Evans got off to pout at some point and Godwin will be ok. Wells better pray for next week though because the Saints at home will be very tough. They will need the same defensive performance or at least someone that's reliable in the slot for the short passing game.
