@KCSVEN a question to you.

If lowe gets back healthy and we also get back Wallace and strange , how should the line up look like ? Who will be starters and who would be swing tackles ?
"Lowe" and "healthy" is getting harder and harder to put in the same sentence. Sad because he has teased being decent enough (even good at times) when out there.

Ben Brown blew my socks off. Can’t believe it. If he has a few more games like this, may as well consider him the long term starter. He’s an RFA after 2024, so he will get a guaranteed $3M deal for one year and then the Pats can extend him after 2025 if he has held up.

Ben brown seems to have had a perfect game . Why are you not penciling him as a starter compared to strange who is yet unproven at center.

Other questions. I thought Jacobs performed pretty well in mop up duty as LT. Is he better fitted as LT or RT.
Jacobs was not good and has not been good, any team with good outside rusher is going to put him on Jacobs and he'll get beat too much.
Brown had 3 running plays he got beat on, 1 pass play he missed a stunt, but Maye was so quick to get the pass out it did not matter. I'd need to see Brown play well against good interior rushers. Texans' strength was outside rushers. He was good in pass pro and ok on runs but not challenged so much.
The Patriots have reportedly been having Strange get ready to play center for awhile, and I assume they think he's an upgrade to Brown

PFF is not always accurate, but I think they ballpark pretty well and this was Texans Game
Jacobs: 48.9 Pass Block, 46.1 Run Block
Brown: 72.3 Pass Block, 48.7 Run Block.

My ranking based on actual play this year:
Lowe
Jordan
Onwenu

Then it is a crap shoot
Brown played well one game, Andrews would probably be next if healthy
Strange: need to see him play after injury
Sow has struggled in certain pass pro but has some good tape
Wallace would be in that next tier
Robinson and Jacobs too bad in pass protection, Robinson a better run blocker
Zach Thomas probably played slightly better than Jacobs but 1 game and not great

Hope Brown or Strange can nail down center, hope Lowe comes back, hope Sidy Sow can play up to his ability. Not a great situation but if everyone was healthy, they could be solid enough with Maye.

How many reads would Jacoby Brissett have gotten through on this play?
Doubtful.

I still don't think many people realize just how good Maye was yesterday. Considering he had an o-line full of backups and a center with 5 days in the system. WRs that everyone pans as just average that can't separate and are the worst pass catchers of any team in the NFL. And I think the youngest QB in the league.

So all he did was throw for over 250 yards, pass for 3 TDs, to 3 different receivers run for 40+, and had one bad INT that was on him. The screen pick was pure luck and the strip sack wasn't really on him but one can argue that.

Yeah I'll take that all day long. Trevor Lawrence threw for 3 in his first game as well. I think that Maye is going to be much better than TL but that remains to be seen.

Just listened to Callahan's podcast. He gave Maye an A- for the game and praised him up and down. His guest did the same. I thought it was an impressive effort behind a substandard line, throwing to marginal WR's (though he made them look pretty good), and against a highly regarded defense that had just battered the league's second-best qb (?) loopy. Nobody likes to sound like a fan boy but.....

Nothing fanboy about it. I will be as critical of Maye, as I was of Mac. He gets a pass for at least the next few games as he gets his feet settled under him.

Oh and another thing as you stated about the WRs- He made them better. He elevated those around him, from the line to the WRs and tight ends. Thats what elite QBs do.

I just rewatched every Maye drop back. He played VERY WELL. He was decisive, went through his reads quickly and threw the ball extremely well. When he left the pocket it was the right thing to do and he ran with purpose, looking to throw first.
He completed 60% of his passes and out of the 13 misses, I counted 2 tipped balls, 2 drops by Polk, 3 throw away.
He has a better understanding of how to execute the reads, progressions and plays, and acted more decisively and made better decisions than any qb since 12 was here. And he throws the ball better than any of them too.
This guy is the real thing.
The TD pass to Boutte was PERFECTLY thrown.

Would have liked the RB to chip the LDE on that play C'mon AVP and Peters help the protections. Pop Douglas is quick enough to uncover no need for the RB to run aimlessly into the flat.

Good call on Zach Thomas considering the circumstances I thought he did ok. They need to get Lowe healthy so Thomas might get the Bulk of the Reps this week in Practice. Hopefully Lowe gets back by the Jets game.

for his 1st start not bad...however all our scores game on long broken plays...which are definitely great to have, but can't rely on them

he kinda has the Mahomes ability of making something awesome out of nothing just going off of this one game...would like to see the normal play situation success carry over

I agree completely. I'm frustrated over such hardo poseurs as Felger/Mazz whining that Maye "didn't make a difference" in an effort at appearing more "sophisticated" or something than fans who saw Maye's start in a positive light. If these "professional analysts" have lost the ability to see the positive, maybe it's time for them to retire or something. It's certainly time for me to ignore them.
