We are not really having the same conversation.
I’m talking about Gordon’s trade value. Not sure how second round picks, Brandon cooks and giving him away have to do with it.

My point is he is damaged goods and has little market value.

Yes! Moss and T.O. have a joint tryout slated with New England and Johnny Manziel is throwing to them. Tim Tebow will be on hand to coach Manziel; ODB has been invited to come watch. Jamie Collins and Chandler Jones are serving refreshments. The tryout is being broadcast live on WEEI with Christian Fauria and Malcolm Butler providing commentary.

Lol. Me, I'm fine keeping Gronk and Cooks.

Offense wasn't why we lost. I'm more interested a big trade to upgrade defense.

I’d have to imagine, because we would never see it in reality. Half of ‘em would be injured before pre-season ended.

The only unstoppable NFL team I've ever seen was the 2007 Patriots. They were absolutely unstoppable, right up until the game where a couple of injuries made them stoppable.

I don't think the Rams will be in that class with Goss under center.

    I don’t think we are.
I brought it up because I believe someone referred to it earlier. That was my whole point from the beginning.

As for Gordon’s pure trade value, no disagreement there. I don’t think Cleveland would get more than a late rounder for him alone. Although I will say that Cleveland would be silly to trade him for a 6th.

He may be damaged goods, but he still has more talent than 99% of 6th round picks that fall that far. Gordon essentially would be completely pointless to trade at this point for Cleveland as well.

The thing is, NO WR elite WR is worth the money they are getting. It's the most overrated and mediot-hyped position in the league. Sadly most fans also buy into this crap too.

All that being said, unless the Giants just want to release his ass, I suggest they just keep him for this year, and if he shows up their team will be better, and if he doesn't he won't be that big a difference between them winning or losing.

Name the elite WR who's been on a Superbowl winner over the last decade. NONE of them are worth more than $10MM/yr, and what is this bozo asking for, $18-20MM???? It's ludicrous. Is it any wonder that the Pats have SCRUPULOUSLY avoided paying big money to WR's, while at the same time they have been consistently in the top 5 of the NFL in passing offense. While it certainly would be nice to have a Julio Jones on your team, it isn't a NECESSARY element to winning. Yet even some Pats fans who have witnessed first hand this truism, still beg for every big name WR when they become available.

It will certainly be another example of the difference between "acquiring talent", and "building a team".

The Rams are doing the former, and it will be interesting to see how it works out. Long term it is completely unsustainable, and even in the short term, this model hasn't had much success in the past.

Football is just a different kind of game. Too many people are needed to make a team work. It is not Basketball where 5 players play both ways, vs football, where you need 22 starters just to get going.

Beckham without a an extension is the kind of headache anyone should think twice about bringing in. Anyone in LA all the more so. Even extended (at a cap & future crippling cost) think about that self indulgent attention whore with piss poor judgement in la la land, what could go wrong? Collecting pieces is one thing, getting them to function as a unit is another, keeping the egos in check over the course of 16 games and through the playoffs is an even bigger challenge. They might be unstoppable at their owners goal of winning the Battle of LA and lining up season ticket commitments to fill their new football palace but we've seen 'unstoppable' fail on the field plenty of times.

Moss was supposedly a cancer. So was Dillon. Both worked out well. Haynesworth not so much.

Also, Ocho Cinco was the premiere prima dona and we signed him. I'm glad BB doesn't do scouting report through the media prism.

Wait what? Are people actually discussing this? There is no chance Belichick will trade for OBJ when:
    1. We need to keep our draft capital to draft OT and defence.
    2. OBJ is an extreme headcase, even if he's talented.
    3. OBJ is in the last year of his contract. He wants to be the highest paid WR in the league, more than Antonio Brown's $17 million APY.
    4. NYG requires a first round pick for OBJ. We should not be trading first round picks.
I'd rather keep Cooks at $14 million APY going forward, even if OBJ is more talented than Cooks.

Didn’t the patriots defense get torched in the Super Bowl by an elite WR named Alston Jeffrey? I believe Jeffrey is making 13 Million Dollars per year; that’s big money.

Whatever that stuttering garbage was supposed to mean!! [IMG]

The ironic part is that reasonable people can have reasonable arguments, and while most of us wouldn't touch Beckham with a thousand foot pole, trading for the guy is at least defensible. After all, he's a certifiable mega talent, however toxic he may be.

But one'f the many downsides of being the sad, lonely, bitter little thing that you are, is that while you're lashing out at those who you disagree with on every post, you're not actually scoring any points. Your lies and temper tantrums only disgrace and demean you. :(

You're not even worth taking the trouble to insult. One of the best features of Ian's Site, one that I should probably make more use of, is that we can effectively "ban" any pathetic, bleating trolls that we want. :) I'm putting you on mute, kid. I cast thee into the silent darkness whence you came!! You have been found...unworthy of these eyes. :D

    Dude...It's Odell Beckham.
Do you really think that anyone's unaware that he's a magnificent WideOut? C'mon!! [IMG]

Nobody's debating that. His talent is amazing, so he'd potentially make a big impact.

What's in question is whether it's worth what it'd cost to get'm:

01 ~ Is he worth the $18-21 Million it'll take to sign'm long term? That's 2 or 3 starters entering their primes that we have to cut loose for one guy. [IMG]

02 ~ Is he worth the trouble and toxicity? [IMG]

03 ~ Is it worth trading Cooks/Picks? [IMG]

Man, I'd love to get Gordon...The first 12 months of everything is the toughest, I think. Now that he's finally broken through, I think the odds finally swing in his favor.

He's still a risk, sure...But one I'd love to take.

Now that he's knocked the rust off, as somebody here noted, I believe that he's poised for a monster year...if Taylor or whoever can actually get'm the ball. [IMG]

True, but with Goff they might have a chance. ;)
