Come on.
The gm signed the guy to a vet min one year deal and said he supports him. What do you want him to do, publicly announce he’s afraid he will be in the pipe in a week?

Do you honestly think any team would give up
anything more than a late round pick as a flyer on a long shot hope on him?
I don’t.

And I don’t think Cleveland will give him up for that price either.

I said: he’s worth more, but not that much more.

You’re really telling me you’ve never heard tone of voice change the meaning of a sentence before?
I can’t hear your tone of voice in an Internet post.

they would pack his bags and pay for the flight for a 6th

Personally, I wouldn't trade for OBJ, period.

That's good to know but just don't say Brandin Cooks is better than OBJ...I know how some of you Patsfans homers are.

You’re going to give up next to nothing for a guy who averaged about 67 yards a game over the 5 games he played (with bad QB play might I add) which you’re also paying next to nothing for?

Stop it Andy. No one is calling him the old Josh Gordon here.

Probably not but you nor anyone else on the forum has a clue what Belichicks opinion is on Odell Beckham. And that’s with all the utmost respect think you are a great poster

First, thank you very much for the polite words. Second, I get what you're saying, and you're right that we can never be sure with BB, but we've seen BB doing this for almost 20 years. We can be pretty sure that, with regards to OBJ, BB
  • Loves his talent
  • Hates his level of Diva, lack of focus, and the way his on-field antics disrupt team chemistry
  • Hates his need for ridiculous money, especially since he's not shown the maturity needed in a team leader
  • Hates the thought of giving up a 1st round pick (and maybe more) for the right to then wildly overpay for a wide receiver
Now, is it possible that Beckham is one of the exceptions that prove the rule (like Johnson, Moss or Haynesworth) in terms of talent v. pain in the ass level? Sure. But it is likely that BB is going to wildly overpay for the privilege of making that gamble?

I think we, almost to a man, would give the same resounding "no" as the answer to that.

Context of post is pretty pointless to argue about once I told you what the context was, so I’m done with that argument

The guy who was cleared to play in 2016 and checked into rehab instead?

You still haven’t explained.
It’s not an argument any way.
If you used a phrase differently than it is normally used, and I took it as how it is normally used instead of 73 back and forth posts, just explain what your unconventional use of the phrase meant.
I still don’t know what you were trying to say and instead of explaining you are taking about tone of voice in a post. I mean you can either clarify what you are trying to say or dance around it but that dancing hasn’t worked so far.

I’m not even sure what point you’re trying to make there.

Shame on him for wanting to get clean two years ago I guess?

The fact that he actually wanted to enter rehab in order to quit his addiction only helps his case, because it shows that he took it seriously.

He is a multiple repeat offender.
He was supposedly clean and cleared to play after how many violations before he went to rehab instead of Reinstatement.

If you think he is a good risk to not end up suspended again I don’t know what to tell you.

I bolded the term that The second time around in order to emphasize that I didn’t think that Cooks would be able to bring that much more value to the extent that Cleveland would give up a WR they’re paying nothing for, along with a 2nd rounder.

It’s like saying you’d give up a leg for an ice cream. You like ice cream, but not that much to give up a leg for it.

For vet minimum sure.

You keep forgetting to bring in that factor. You’re acting like they’re paying this guy 8 million.

Bolding doesn’t explain that. All you had to do was say not that much more meant you don’t think cooks is worth Gordon plus a 2nd. Debatable but more reasonable that he’s not worth that much more. See how much you could have saved? I can’t read your mind.

I had already said when I first mentioned you that my lack of clarification was likely why you gave a funny reaction to my post. I clarified what I meant in a response to RobertWeathers a long time ago. I addressed that I didn’t explain as clearly as I would have liked to.

I just don’t understand what you keep wanting to argue about

For vet minimum sure.

What he is being paid doesn’t affect the risk of him being suspended. That risk affects his value. I’d say it’s better than 50/50 that Gordon is suspended again before the end of the 2018 season.

This is his 2016, after at least 5 other suspensions. I don’t get how you thin relapsing when he finally was reinstated is a good sign.

On January 20, 2016, Gordon applied to the league for reinstatement.[29] His request was denied in March when it was reported that he had failed another drug test.[30]

On July 25, 2016, Gordon was reinstated by the NFL. He was allowed to participate in training camp but was suspended for the first four games of the 2016 regular season.[31]

On September 29, 2016, Gordon left the Cleveland Browns to enter an in-patient rehabilitation facility. He was one week away from reinstatement to the NFL, serving his previous sentence of four regular season games.

But I clarified that to Robert Weathers, and you decided you wanted a further explanation after that. So it seems to me that you obviously wanted to have a long discussion over something so irrelevant

YOU called ME out. And my first response was I must hsve laughed at a typo. You decided to turn that into an argument.

I doubt I read your post to Robert weathers because I was busy with your responses arguing what not that much means.

Did he ever enter rehab before those suspensions? And has he been suspended since he finished rehab?

Not sure why you’re using him entering rehab against him. Wouldn’t that be ideal for him to do so to try and avoid getting addicted again?
