For the second part, I didn't remember it that way and I disagree with your interpretation - and I'm a fan of SMY. The implication of her article was that it was a done deal, and that Asante was in the fold. This is silly to deny. As for the first part of what you said - I made a little joke about Cimini2.0, but you have to actually take it seriously, and get personal - feel free to take your little pseudo-macho alpha male crap and stick it.

You can disagree with my interpretation all you want. I don't care. Doesn't make you any more correct now than when you first posted it.

As for your other comments, Its only a joke if both people LAUGH. So, please take your own advice.

Re: Bill Belichick rips Kerry Rhodes - "Couldn't make my team"

DaBruinz, take a breath. Christ. You're this amazing combination of a lady and a bully. Lighten up, Francis.

I hope a New England reporter has a bit of fun with this and asks the Jets players: "Did you actually believe BB would say something like that?" Really, I find it hard to imagine that Rhodes would fall for it.

Okay, okay, back on subject. Who cares about the Asante thing anymore.

All that matters now is when the Daily News will offer a retraction and apology.

Re: NY Daily News' Rich Cimini takes SI report out of context, makes up BB quote

Ok, let's be realistic. Just like 37 made a big mistake, so has Cimini made a big mistake. The media/fans in NY are likely searching for anything to motivate their team.

Was it malicious? Does Cimini have a history of this type of thing? But, for a major paper, this is a huge mistake.

Consider this: It's been over 1 and 1/2 hours since the Daily News Sports Desk was informed via e-mails and phone calls to this situation.

The website still has the original wrong story up - - with no corrections or apologies whatsoever.

Cimini, who is blogging today in his "Jets Stream" area (he has an entry from this morning) has not done a thing regarding this.

Excellent points. The original transgression should have prompted an immediate retraction and apology to save his job. Now I know that the Daily News is simply corrupt. They know they publish lies and they don't care.

Its only a joke if both people LAUGH.
Some people won't laugh at anything. A skeleton walks into a bar and says, "Give me a beer and a mop." Believe it or not, there are people who don't think that's funny.

So, no, I don't think both people have to laugh to make it a joke.

A priest is walking past a bar. A drunk gets up from the sidewalk and says, "I'm ************." Priest says, "No, son, you're not." Guy says, "Oh yeah, watch this." He drags the priest into the bar. The bartender takes one look at the drunk and says, "************, are you back again?"

It's in the phrasing. Instead of saying, "Peter King quotes Bill Belichick as saying..." etc. (which would have been incorrect but more understandable), Cimini makes it seem like insider info:

Belichick takes aim at safety Kerry Rhodes, ripping one of the Jets' best players in the current issue of Sports Illustrated. In a story that ranks the top 500 players in the NFL, Belichick offers his take on the rankings of Rhodes (29th) and Bills tackle Jason Peters (39th).

"Neither of those guys could make my team," Belichick told the magazine.

With phrases like "ripping one of the Jets" and "Belichick told the magazine," Cimini intentionally obscures the source to make it seem as if he had a front row seat, instead of admitting, "I was reading SI and thought this would be cool to reprint."

This is a case of lazy journalism. King joked " even if" which means whether or not BB said it, not that he actually said it. Cimini didn't even notice the subtle nuance and ran with an incorrect story...

Did anybody email Peter King???

I couldn't find his e-mail.

For someone being a beat writer for the past 11 years, I am surprised that Cimini doesn't even know how to read. May be its the NY water.

Cimini reminds me of the infamous Bobby Knight quote about journalists, "We all learn to write in first grade. Most of us go on to do other things."

Don't get out much do you?

Re: NY Daily News' Rich Cimini takes SI report out of context, makes up BB quote

Last year before the Bills game Belichick raved about Peter being the best player on the Bills. Plain bull****.

Read through the thread, bud.

Belichick never said this.

Cimini is the worst. He should be fired for this horrible attempt at journalism.

What are you guys talking about? Every single local writer got the Asante tender story wrong, and Tomase's the only local guy to have looked into this story at all now. And you STILL slam him? Good God. What a pretty bunch of ladies you are.

I don't recall any of the "ladies" on this list slamming Thomase. It was and is males.

Try to come up with an insult that doesn't slander half the world's population.
