NFL Week 2 games discussion

Chucky playing with fire again..

The notion that coaches would be accomplishing something or preventing the spread of COVID by wearing a mask on the sidelines is utterly absurd.

What ever happened to picking up the PI flag on an uncatchable ball?

Well, guess we’ll see how the Raiders handle an emotional win, on short rest, traveling to the east coast, and facing a Pats team looking to erase their last one. Can’t wait.

Yeah, interesting decision. You miss and you give the Saints the ball in great field position.

Matt Patricia had a somewhat similar situation in week one, though different specific circumstances. Lions entered the 4th quarter leading 23-6 before the Bears got their first TD very early in the quarter to make it 23-13. Each of the next two possessions resulted in a punt, then Detroit advanced as far as the Chicago 33. A sack and a short gain resulted in 4th and 12 on the 37 with 4:08 to play.

Rather than punt and force Mitch Trubisky to go the length of the field and then score again, Patricia opted for a 55 yard field goal. If successful all that would do is force Chicago to score two TDs rather than a TD and a FG. Of course the kick was wide, and Chicago went 55 yards in five plays for a touchdown to pull within three - with three minutes still left to play.

Three plays later Stafford throws a pick, and the Bears conclude a comeback win that may have been more improbable than the Dallas victory over Atlanta yesterday (but nobody was talking about this game, because it's the Bears and Lions, and doesn't involve the Dallas Cowboys...)

Anyways, I'm not sure that Gruden's was the 'right' one without the benefit of knowing the outcome - but obviously it worked out. Surprise outcome; maybe a bit of a letdown for the Saints after all the buildup of the week one game?

At this point, that team might as well tank for Lawrence. They are that bad. The fact that they even had those leads in the first place is a minor miracle. That said, I don’t think Patricia lasts the season. He’s a dead man walking.

Stafford is one of those QBs who thrills you with his stats, and kills you with his record.

Great Raider W. NFL more fun when Raiders are relevant

repeat offender. That's gotta be a draft pick, right?
Depending on Payton's politics, I could see him publicly telling the NFL to f-off. Two full game day rosters of players running around without masks but the head coach who needs to be speaking into his headset all game better not take his off. #NFLlogic

Have to think at this point that Jimmy Garoppolo really is an injury prone player, whatever that actually means.
  • Injured shoulder in Game 2 of 2016 season after routine tackle.
  • Plays six games for 49ers in 2017.
  • Torn ACL in in Game 1 of 2018 season on another routine play.
  • Plays all games in 2019.
  • High ankle sprain in Game 2 of 2020 season on non-contact play.

Jimmy G has got to have an amazing agent. He got a massive contract off a limited sample size of games. He's not clutch and also very injury prone.

.

Just watched the Raiders game , that TE Waller is some player.....do you think JJ Williams will be on him for our game ?

Here is a theory, maybe Saints aren't the team they were the last few years, especially without Thomas

They already didn't look particularly smooth on offense against the Bucs. That game was won by the turnovers, a couple PIs and 1-2 good drives.

I am not sure if it is Brees, play calling or his supporting cast but if they can't get the machine rolling again they will not win the division against Tampa and might end up with empty hands despite huge investments (and cap debts coming up).

Brees looks like a different QB when he can’t throw a 5 yard slant to Thomas every play.

Just wait until the end of the season.

Brees arm will be toast. The prior 2 seasons Brees arm strength and accuracy has worn down noticeably just before the post season.

Yet, the Brady haters were crowning the Saints already.

The Raiders wont be easy. Raiders RB Jacobs nearly carried about 3 Saints defenders across the goaline.

Hard to see Vegas beating the Pats coming off this huge win though.
